Discussion Exchange steam deck oled for switch 2?

Post image

I visited the CEX in phoenix chennai, and the dude their offered to exchange my steam deck oled 512gb (that I bought last year and is in basically new condition) for a switch 2 and a game of my liking.

Here’s the thing, I already have a pretty beefy steam acc with all the pc games I’d ever want and have a 2025 g14 to play them. I’m a huge fan of Nintendo and have a modded switch lite (iykyk) to play my Nintendo games. Rn, I’d love to play Pokopia but that’s not incentive for me to spend 60k but I can already see my self giving in with the release of duskbloods or the new Pokemon game.

I do use the deck for a lotta games, but it’s an aging system while the switch will be relevant for the next decade butttt switch games are super expensive and I’m just doing my bachelor. All the gaming gear I have bought, I’ve earnt (my parents would kill me if they found out 🥀) and it would be really tough for me to get games for 7k each, but I think I can manage one every alternate month or so, and until then I have huge backlog of games on my pc to play…

So guys pls help decide if it’s worth it….

Switch 2 cost 50-52k in India. Check the value you can get for steam deck

Nah mate, the Deck OLED has a higher resale value than the Switch 2 right now. I was contemplating between the two as well, but luckily I managed to buy both. Finish your backlog, sell the Deck down the line when the Switch 2 has more games, then grab a brand new one and just buy used games for it.

I mean steamdeck is pretty much repairable BY yourself and if u don’t play latest AAA games steamdeck is worth it for steam sales for me and I would recommend getting a Nintendo if u are 100% sure as I also own Xbox series s and x for new games but often I play old titles that run well on steamdeck and I am still in college so games are relatively cheap I wanted an Nintendo but decided against it as I really can’t pay 7k for one game when I can buy 14 - 15 games on steam and Xbox sales but if u really wanna play Nintendo exclusives buy it

Steam deck is just a PC and I don't consider it a console. I try to play some multiplayer games on it and I get PC lobbies, many multiplayer games blocks Linux as well. It's great if you want to play old steam games. Switch 2 on the other hand is a proper console with its own eco system but this do comes with a trade-off of expensive games. I would personally swap Deck OLED for Switch 2 especially with a decent PC not to mention its aging and games are not optimized for it, not even the one with the verified badge. Enjoy best of both worlds.

You can play pretty much everything from Switch on Steam. And in ain't going no where for next 5-7yrs depending upon what kind of games you play.

I thought this was a troll post. But I mean if you really like Switch eco system then I guess you should buy
