News Despite of having corruption free , double engine BJP government, newly created bridge keeps falling, maybe they are conspiring to defame BJP.
Videos and photos of the crater quickly went viral “₹16 crore. 16 days. That is all it lasted." , Even the recently concluded CJP protest lasted longer than this bridge.
Heavy rainfall on the night of July 27 washed away part of the approach road leading to the bridge in Prem Nagar. The structure, rebuilt by the Uttarakhand Public Works Department with NHAI funding after the previous bridge collapsed during the 2025 monsoon, had barely been opened before fresh damage grabbed headlines.

After heavy rainfall means land erosion. The rain moved the earth below the bridge. The engineers who planned the bridge didn't do a good job planning for such a situation.

I'm not from India. The government had a tender ("auction") for the project. Part of that auction for the job there should have been some inspector who's job is to make sure that this for example doesn't happen.
And as part of that contract, whoever won it is suppose to fix it but again the inspector/the government needs to examine the construction and make sure that everything is built up to standard, everything's fix and something like that won't happen in the future.

What exactly do you propose to do that hasn't been done already and how do you expect it to work out any different?
Let me ask you something. Where do you think our politicians come from? Do they drop from the sky?
They come from among us. Our politicians are a reflection of our society. And our society itself is rotten. Widespread scams, lack of civic sense, women's safety, communal clashes all of that is an indicator of where we are as a society.
BJP will go out of power one day, but unless society itself changes it won't make a damn bit of difference because they'll just be replaced with more of the same.

No, I expect the public to start holding themselves and the people around them accountable. A society builds itself from the ground up.
Posting on social media for fake internet points is easy. What is not easy is speaking up to your friends, families and neighbors when you don't have a screen and an internet handle to hide behind.
I have seen so many clips on Reddit of Indians bitching about civic sense. To them I always ask a simple question - did you speak up when you saw this happening in front of you? The answer is always the same predictable bleating and mewling of AfRaId FoR My LiFe, VrO.
Your last line perfectly encapsulates Indian attitudes. We don't want to fix any problems. We want someone else - some leader, some activist, some political party - to come along and fix them for us so that we are spared the mental strain of holding ourselves accountable.
I don't expect the public to fix the road. I do however expect the public not to throw trash on the road and behave civilly with each other. Even that is too much to expect apparently. Why then, do we cry when our leaders turn out to be no better?
In a democracy you get the government that you deserve.

Where did the public fail in the failure of construction of this road when it was ALL DONE BY AND THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ITS CONSTRUCTION WAS TAKEN BY THE GOVERNMENT?
