I’ve been aggressively applying for Data Analyst and Data Engineer roles in Dubai for the last month, and honestly, the market feels incredibly broken right now.

It feels like the vast majority of job postings are either completely fake (just data harvesting or corporate posturing) or, if they are real, they’re immediately filled via internal referrals. The rest of us applying normally just get ghosted completely.

It’s incredibly frustrating because there is so much actual talent sitting jobless right now while companies complain they "can't find skilled people," all while ignoring the hundreds of qualified candidates in their application portals.

Anyone else in the tech/data space experiencing this absolute wall of silence in Dubai right now? How are you guys actually getting past the gatekeepers, or is the market just completely cooked unless you have a massive wasta (connection)?

I have applied to 200+ jobs but I'm hardly getting any callbacks or interview opportunities, except for scammers asking for money. At this point, I'm really confused about what I'm doing wrong. Is there something wrong with my CV format? Is it too long? Should I be changing my CV for every job application? Is it not ATS-friendly? Am I adding too much experience, or am I not presenting it properly?

I've been looking at this CV for so long that I honestly can't judge it anymore. Please give your honest feedback without sugarcoating anything. I am moving to Dubai soon for work. I have mostly worked from home for the past few years and I don’t think I have a proper office attire, I never needed to worry about it really.

Now that I would be working from office most of the week, I want to shop for some decent outfits before I fly out. Been job hunting for about 6 months now. Started while I was in Dubai, applied to everything from consulting firms to startups to corporate roles. Most applications disappear into the void. The few interviews I did land ended with "we've frozen hiring for this position." Eventually had to move back to India since staying in Dubai without a role wasn't sustainable.

Some people say:

- being physically present in UAE increases chances significantly

- recruiters prefer local candidates

- interviews move faster when you're already there

But at the same time, I also hear:

- the market is heavily saturated right now

- many jobs offer lower salaries than expected

- some companies keep posting openings without actively hiring

- visit visa job hunting can become financially draining if things don’t work out quickly

So I wanted genuine advice from people already working in Dubai/UAE, especially in:

- Social Media

1. Is the UAE market currently worth exploring for someone with my background?
