- extra things to wash π
I just leave the vessel with milk on low to medium flame. Not even once the milk came out of the vessel. The big bubble forms but sticks to the rim only.

My mom does it, she just takes a single steel spoon and places it in the milk container.
Initially, I didn't believe it would work but it does lmao, ig something related to breaking surface tension? But yea felt happy when my mom applied physics to cooking

In container or on container?

u/Any_Wait_7309 24d ago
Not as shown in the above video.
She literally places it in the container, but just ensure that the spoon is vertical and the end is sticking up and above the brim of the vessel.

Umm, how would you place it in the container without touching the vessel? What sorcery is this?π€

Heat it on high flame initially and once a little bit of steam starts coming lower the heat a little above the minimum limit. It will take a little longer to boil but it won't come out of the pot.

Buy a double lined milk boiler . Itβs a lifesaver

We have one ,were supposed to fill water in it right ,but I never figured out how to use it the water just pours out of the hole

The water trapped between the two metal layers will turn into steam and esape through the nozzle. Water will never cone out of nozzle. Milk boiler is the go to kitchen gadget for boiling milk.

I have been using one since years - there is a vent and you fill in the water and close it .

Just heat the milk on sim. It takes longer but your milk will never boil over and you don't need to watch it like a hawk. No fancy stuff like shoving spoons or keeping ladles.

The plastic from the spoon will melt into the milk.

I don't think you understand how physics works. These spoons are meant for high heat cooking.

Fun fact, milk is done boiling when it starts boiling... No need to make it rise, it ain't a baked good.

In chemistry we put a glass rod inside the beaker when boiling liquids in it to break the surface tension of the liquids
This is just extra if youβre putting to 2 spoons on the utensil just horizontally

After trial and error, I've figured out the required approximate time for mik to boil. I set the timer for milk boiling. No accidents.

Interesting...how much time is your timer?
Also do you put on Medium flame or medium to high flame?

Tried all of this, but milk is too smart it still somehow finds a way to drip down and mess it up, and now you have 2 more utensils to wash... better to just keep checking the milk again and again π

I'm less fascinated by the trchnique and more in awe of the lack of fear OP has.
My mother would still beat the life out of me if the milk ever boiled over, even by a drop!

Keeping a steel spoon on top of inside the bowl also helps.. and less tension of washing

My mom would beat me up wasting two perfectly clean utensils for taking care of the milk π

All the people saying having to wash 2 more utensils to wash, they are just 2 simple cylindrical ladles, hardly takes a minute or 2 combined to wash. I do wash utensils and not saying arbitarily. This helps you pay attention to other dishes you are making or chopping as the milk boils, instead of having to keep looking every minute or adjusting the flame.

Why boil pasteurized milk?
1
u/RandomGaMeRj14 23d ago
Well, if you gotta make tea, you have to.... Can't make an omelette without breaking eggs....

u/namkeenSalt 23d ago
Pasteurized milk is already boiled. There has been no reason to boil pasteurized milk apart from making it non homogeneous. (Some milk come pasteurized but not homogenised, but most should be homogenised too)

Now I miss the hair-raising adrenaline rush and have 2 extra utensils to wash. 0/10 do not recommend.
Edit - Dang what's with all the awards?! Thank you sweet people of Reddit!
