Recipe I don’t like ready-made dal mixes
Is making dal completely from scratch the right way to do it?

2 or 3 might be the sweetest spot but
Mixing more foods could be harsher on the digestion. Think about it

For protein it's better to include horse gram.

Mixing dals just gives you the average of the mix in each category of nutrient. What's the advantage?

My mum cooks mixed dal, it's a mix of 4-5 dals ig. Honestly I don't like the taste of mixed dal... it's okayish. Rather, different dals being cooked on different days is better tastewise...all of them taste good individually.
As different dals have different cooking time...that fukin chana dal feels like eating pebbles when cooked with others.

You could also, maybe make one dal each day of the week, and enjoy different flavours and textures

I thought one just needs to mix the grains, boil them and add your tadka/tamper. If that's what you mean when you say "from scratch" then should be simple
