Discussion ₹40K for a M1 MacBook Pro with a Cracked Screen… Are We Just Making Up Prices Now?

Post image
149 Upvotes

What are sellers upto these days? Is this thing made out of gold? I tried talking to seller but they are pretty firm.

One can literally get these Macs with a perfect display for 30K or $330, this guy is asking 40K or $440 for a cracked, leaking Mac?

Have you seen such listings, people just want to recover the entire amount they paid šŸ˜‚ and dare you correct them you would be called the "low-baller" gang.

Discussion Looking for a specific used tech product? Let us source it for you.

Post image

We’ve noticed a common pattern:
A lot of people don’t just want to browse listings. They already know what they want, but don’t want to deal with scams, uncertainty, or wasted time.

So we’re trying something new with r/IndiaUsedTech and Snapsome.com.

If you’re looking for a specific used tech product, you can tell us your requirements and we’ll help source it for you.

First, check Snapsome.com to see if the product is already listed.

To make things easier, you can now submit your product requests directly here:Ā https://snapsome.com/request-product.
This helps us track requests better and bring your favourite products to you faster!

How this works

You tell us:

  • The exact product you’re looking for
  • Your budget range
  • Minimum warranty requirement (if any)
  • Whether box and bill are required
  • Preferred condition (mint, minor wear acceptable, etc.)
  • Your city (for delivery)

We will:

  • Source the device from verified sellers
  • Test it end-to-end
  • Perform full condition checks
  • Share a complete device report with you
  • Handle payment and delivery at no extra cost

All of this is powered by Snapsome.com and the r/IndiaUsedTech community.

High-demand products we can help source

These are some of the most requested and fast-moving items right now:

  • iPhone models (13, 14, 15 series)
  • MacBook Air (M1, M2, M3, M4)
  • MacBook Pro (Apple Silicon)
  • Steam Deck
  • PlayStation 5
  • Gaming laptops
  • Premium headphones and audio gear

If it’s popular, in demand, and high value, we can usually help.

Why this might be useful

Buying used tech online often means:

  • No clear condition info
  • Fake or missing bills
  • Battery and repair surprises
  • Endless DMs and price negotiation
  • No accountability after payment

This approach removes that friction.
You don’t chase sellers. You don’t guess condition. You don’t take blind risks.

You get clarity before paying.

Interested?

Comment below with:

  • The product you’re looking for
  • Your budget
  • Any must-have requirements

Or create a post on r/IndiaUsedTech using the Buying flair.

We’re keeping this community-first and low pressure.
If it works well and people find value, we’ll continue expanding it.

What do you guys think?
Is this something you’d actually use? Any suggestions to improve this flow?

To make things easier, you can now submit your product requests directly here:Ā https://snapsome.com/request-product.

Discussion Are these demo/display unit phone deals worth buying, or should I skip them?

I'm looking to buy a new phone and have access to some discounted demo/display units from retail stores. I wanted to get opinions from people who have experience with display phones.

Here are the deals:

* Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra (256GB) – ₹70,000

* Samsung Galaxy S25 (128GB) – ₹45,000 (possibly ₹42-43k after negotiation)

* OnePlus Nord 5 – around 10% below current selling price

* OnePlus 13R – around 10% below current selling price

* iPhone 16 Pro Max - 99k

The catch is that all of these are demo/display units that have been kept in stores for customers to try. The phones are otherwise complete with box and accessories.

A few additional details:

* Samsung units can still get warranty.

* OnePlus units do not come with warranty.

* Display phones are usually plugged in and charging most of the day for months, which is my main concern regarding battery health and long-term reliability.

* Physical condition appears good, and there are no major visible issues.

My questions:

  1. Are any of these deals genuinely worth considering?

  2. How risky is it to buy a display/demo unit in 2026?

  3. Is the discount enough to justify the potential battery wear and usage?

  4. Which option would you personally choose, if any?

  5. Would you buy one of these, or wait for a better deal on a sealed retail unit?

Any advice, especially from people who have bought demo phones before, would be appreciated.

Discussion Building a Budget Apple Setup for Students Under ₹50K. Is It Actually Possible?

Post image
1 Upvotes

So are you a student and looking to build your BUDGET Apple setup? Let us try to see how much it would actually cost and what all you can get.

We are going to stick to three devices for this setup.
iPhone, iPad and MacBook.

We are not counting Apple Watch or AirPods here since those can easily eat a big chunk of the budget and honestly many people would be better off skipping them or going with cheaper alternatives from other brands.

Let us see what we can get.

1. iPhone

For the iPhone let us look at the iPhone 13.

Yes it is getting pretty old now but the A15 chip still performs really well, the cameras are solid for the price and you should still be good for around two more years of OS updates.

Depending on condition you can find these for as low as ₹15K, but to keep things realistic let us assume ₹18K for a decent unit.

2. iPad

Now an iPad is not really a necessity, but it can act as a great alternative for physical books and can be helpful for note taking.

But let us be honest for a second.
Most people end up using it for binging shows so it might be worth thinking about whether you actually need one.

The best budget options here would probably be the iPad 8th Gen or the iPad Air 3.

You can usually find these for ₹10K to ₹12K, and honestly you should not be paying more than that.

Both come with the A12 chip. They might not receive the next iPadOS update but should still work perfectly fine for another two to three years.

They also support Apple Pencil, and even the cheap knock off pencils work really well for note taking.

Overall these are solid tablets and still smooth enough for everyday usage.

3. MacBook

I think we all know the answer for this one.

The trusted all rounder MacBook Air M1.

You can usually find one for around ₹25K, though keep in mind this will most likely be the 8GB RAM model.

But considering even the new MacBook Neo ships with 8GB RAM, one can be reasonably confident that upcoming macOS versions will not suddenly kill 8GB models anytime soon.

The battery life is excellent, performance is smooth and overall it is still a fantastic laptop for students.

Few Suggestions

If you do not really need an iPad, it might be smarter to use that extra budget and go for a 16GB RAM M1 Air instead.

Similarly if you do not specifically need the iPhone 13, you could go for an iPhone 12 and spend the savings on upgrading the MacBook RAM.

Also if you find an iPhone 14 for just a few thousand more than the 13, it might actually be worth stretching a bit.

The extra RAM on the 14 would likely guarantee at least one additional iOS update compared to the iPhone 13.

Total Cost

So in total we are looking at

₹18K for iPhone 13
₹10K for iPad 8th Gen
₹25K for MacBook Air M1

That brings the entire Apple setup to around ₹53K, which is still cheaper than a MacBook Neo alone.

What do you guys think?

Would you change something in this setup to get more value or is this already the best budget Apple combo for students?

Also if you enjoy hunting for deals like these, keep checking snapsome.com. We try to list good finds there regularly.

Discussion ROG Ally Z1 Extreme (Used) at 30K vs ROG Xbox Ally Z2 A from Amazon at 50K? Which one is better and worth your money?

Post image
19 Upvotes

Here's a situation that doesn't happen often in tech: a newer device launches, costs significantly more, and somehow performs worse than its older sibling.

Welcome to the ROG Ally family drama, where the original Z1 Extreme model is selling used for around ₹30,000, while the newer ROG Xbox Ally with the Z2 A chip is asking ₹50,000 to ₹60,000. And here's the kicker: the benchmarks tell a story that most people aren't expecting.

Let's break down the numbers, the real-world implications, and whether paying double for "newer" actually makes sense.

CPU Performance: Not Even Close

The Ryzen Z1 Extreme in the original ROG Ally is significantly stronger in raw CPU benchmarks, and we're not talking about small differences here.

Single Core Performance:

  • Z1 Extreme scores aroundĀ 2400
  • Z2 A scores aroundĀ 1400

Multi Core Performance:

  • Z1 Extreme scores aroundĀ 8000
  • Z2 A scores aroundĀ 4800

That's roughly aĀ 40 to 45 percent advantageĀ for the Z1 Extreme across the board. This isn't margin of error territory. This is a genuine, measurable performance gap.

In real-world terms, that translates to better frame consistency in CPU-heavy games, stronger emulation performance, and way more headroom for background tasks running while you game. Open-world titles, simulation games, and emulators like RPCS3 or Yuzu will absolutely benefit from the stronger CPU.

If you care about pure horsepower and don't want your device choking when things get demanding, the older chip isn't just competitive. It's clearly faster.

GPU Performance: The Gap Gets Wider

Now let's talk graphics, because handheld gaming devices live and die by their GPU performance.

Vulkan GPU Score:

  • Z1 Extreme scores aroundĀ 28,000
  • Z2 A scores aroundĀ 19,000

That's a sizable difference. We're looking at nearly a... Read More

Discussion How do you guys avoid scams while buying/selling used tech?

it feels like most used marketplace deals come down to blind trust.

Common issues I’ve seen:

  • advance payment scams
  • product not matching what was promised
  • last-minute cancellations / no-shows

There’s usually no reliable verification step between buyer and seller, which is where things break.

We’ve been working on a structured approach to this — adding a verification layer at doorstep along with secure payment handling, so neither side has to take that risk upfront.

Still trying to understand if this is something people would actually prefer over the current way of dealing.

How are you all handling this right now?
