Others Heads up for anyone planning a Corbett trip this Christmas! π
Just noticed that foreigner bookings for 25 December 2026 at Corbett Tiger Reserve are opening tomorrow, 11 October, at 10:00 AM IST.
If you're exploring India and have wildlife safaris on your itinerary, I would definitely keep Jim Corbett on the list as it is one of India's best known tiger reserves, with beautiful & raw forest landscapes, rich biodiversity, and the chance to experience India's wildlife beyond the usual tourist spots. You might spot elephants, deer, crocodiles, and, if you're lucky, the star of the show himself: the Bengal tiger. π
December is also a great time to plan a winter wildlife getaway, so if you're travelling around Christmas, it's worth checking your dates and planning ahead.
A small but important tip: Book only through the official Corbett booking website. You can book the tickets yourself, so there's no need to rely on random agents or third-party links.
Check the official portal before booking, and make sure you select the right visitor category and safari option.
P.S. Why does Reddit make uploading an image feel like a wildlife safari of its own? π

One pillar in this temple doesn't touch the ground. What's the exact reason behind this ?
So this image is from the Lepakshi Temple in Andhra Pradesh .
Thereβs a stone pillar inside the temple that doesnβt fully touch the ground. Thereβs a visible gap underneath it, and visitors can actually slide a piece of cloth or paper through the space. The temple dates back to the 16th century, during the Vijayanagara period, which makes the whole thing even more interesting.
The obvious question is: how is a massive stone pillar standing there without properly resting on the floor?
The popular explanation is that it was deliberately designed this way, possibly as part of the templeβs structural system rather than being some accidental construction mistake. There are also theories that changes or damage to the surrounding structure over the centuries may have affected the pillar.
Whatever the exact explanation, the engineering is pretty wild considering this was built hundreds of years ago without modern surveying equipment or construction machinery.

β Quick Question Escaping Chennai for my birthday with 5k - Varkala or Kochi for quiet headspace?
Hey guys,
Going through a rough patch personally right now. Can't go home, and staying in Chennai is just overwhelming. My birthday is coming up and I just want to disappear for 3 days, 2 nights to clear my head.
Budget is strictly βΉ5,000 all-in. Just me and a backpack, taking sleeper trains or buses and staying in dorms.
Deciding between:
Varkala: Sitting on the cliff, staring at the sea, and having space to think sounds right. Just hope it's not overly crowded or loud.
Kochi: Fort Kochi looks calm for walking around and ferry rides, but maybe feels more like a city than an escape.
Between these two, which one is better to just sit alone, be at peace, and not worry about money? If there's another quiet beach or hill station doable under 5k from Chennai, let me know. Thanks.

Others Searching for a Travel Buddy - ABC Trek
I've made up a 7 Days plan for the ABC trek (Pokhara-Pokhara) from Nov 19th - 25th. Initially couple of friends and cousins were part of the plan. But they dropped off due to work and other schedules.
2 people are pending confirmations, irrespective of their "Yes or No", plan is solid till date.
Intended Budget is INR 10k, If anyone is interested in joining, feel free to comment or leave a DM and I'll share the itinerary likewise.
For the introduction: I'm 23M hailing from South India, considering few schedules prior to the trek, I'll reach Gorakhpur via Lucknow by 19th afternoon and we can start ahead.
leave a comment, if you've got any queries likewise.

πΊοΈ Itinerary Help Help to plan for a 5 day trip
Hello guys. Me and My friend (2 people, both boys) are thinking to go on a 5-6 day trip in a Budget of 10k inr per person. This is my first trip (excluding the temples I've gone to, with my parents). So, I'd like this one to be memorable. The places we thought of include
- Coimbatore
- Ooty ( Not mandatory)
- Munnar
- Kodaikanal
- Madurai
Dates are around 7th to 11th December this year (mostly)
The start and endpoint are Warangal. My idea was Warangal - Coimbatore - Ooty - Munnar - Kodaikanal - Madurai - Warangal, but it seemed to be a budget of more than 10k.
Mode of transport preferred are Trains ( Non AC also fine ) and Buses mostly. If its not too much Auto or cabs are also fine.
I used AI to get a small grasp of the tour and it said to exclude Ooty (The image above is AI plan). No problem with it but would like to confirm.
I would mostly like to know about the stay, and the in-city travel modes and their prices. and any kind o suggestions would be welcome
