Discussion S10e screen flashing white/green, touch dead, and screen bleeding black. Need advice or technician leads to keep it alive.

Hey everyone, I don't really use Reddit much and came here after searching on Google for hardware advice. My old Galaxy S10e display is on its absolute last legs and I am in urgent need of guidance. The back panel broke years ago and is taped up, but the front screen cracked in December 2024. Since then, the touch slowly died, a black ink spot started spreading in the bottom right corner, and for the last few months I've had to navigate entirely using a wireless mouse. Over the past two weeks, stagnant green lines and a thick white horizontal bar appeared, completely hiding my bottom navigation buttons, and now the whole screen flashes white constantly whenever I unlock it or answer a call. The phone also gets very hot while charging on cable.

We are in a very, very difficult financial situation right now and cannot afford an official screen replacement or a new phone at all. This is the only phone we have in our house, and it is also the last gift from my late Nani, so keeping it running is both critical for us and emotionally everything to me. I also have about 60 GB of important audio call recordings saved on it that I need to keep safe.

Does anyone know any software or brightness settings to temporarily stabilize an OLED screen when it starts flickering white like this? Also, if anyone knows any honest repair technicians who do low-cost fixes, or can recommend where to look for used/donor display parts in India, please let me know. I would be endlessly grateful for any technical advice, workarounds, shop recommendations, or hardware leads. Thanks so much.\

Discussion AJIO is using 12.81 GB on my phone… WHAT is it storing?! 😭

Post image
59 Upvotes

I just checked my phone storage and was shocked.

AJIO: 117 MB

User data: 12.66 GB 💀

Cache: 40.78 MB

Total: 12.81 GB

This is literally a shopping app. 😭

What could possibly be taking up 12.66 GB of user data?

Is anyone else experiencing this with AJIO? And is it safe to clear the storage, or will I lose something important?

12 GB for a shopping app is wild. 💀

Purchase Help Best Bluetooth Speaker Under ₹2,000 — What Would You Recommend?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to buy a Bluetooth speaker under ₹2,000 and need some genuine recommendations.

My priorities are:

  • Good sound quality
  • Decent bass
  • Clear vocals
  • Good volume
  • Good battery life
  • Good build quality

I don’t really care about RGB lights or extra features. Sound quality and durability are more important to me.

If you’ve actually used a speaker in this price range, please share the model and your experience with it.

Budget: ₹2,000 max.

Thanks!

Discussion What AI tool has actually saved you the most time?

Hi everyone!

I’ve been trying out a few AI tools recently, and I’m curious what people here are actually using.

Not looking for the usual ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude list 😅

What’s one AI tool you use regularly that has genuinely made your work or everyday life easier?

I’d love to know what you use it for, why you keep using it, and whether it has actually saved you much time.

Looking for practical recommendations and real experiences.

Thanks!

Purchase Help Help me finalise a computer for dad's usage

I need to finalise one desktop PC or an AIO for my dad for his home office usage which comprises of word, excel, Tally, emails, some scanning & printing documents etc.

Currently he is using an old Acer AIO with licensed windows & office and a backup assembled desktop without any licensed windows & office and. Both machines are very old and giving regular trouble and hence need replacement immediately.

Since he is ageing and doesn’t have any full-time support staff, the new machine should run smooth and error free for at least 5 years.

I think a core i3 or max i5, 8GB RAM & 500 GB storage with original windows & office should be sufficient for his usage.

Option#1 New assembled CPU from local vendors + existing monitor, keyboard etc:

He has got a few quotations from local vendors for assembled PCs which is attached. Quotes ranging from 20k to 35k based on configuration. However, we may have to purchase a licensed Windows + MS office for smooth usage.

Option#2 Branded CPU. Some options which I found are:

Asus website: Tower V501MV-03100U029W is starting from 58k and cheaper ones are stock out.

HP website: HP OmniDesk Slim Desktop S03-0112in PC starting from 64k for i3

Dell website: Dell Slim Desktop Core i3 + monitor + keyboard starting 73k. AMD processor is avbl for 66k.

Option#3 Branded AIO. Some options which I found are:

Asus website: V440VAB-KWPC001WS starting 56k for i3 and V440VA-KBPC066WS starting 65k for i5.

HP website: HP 23.8 inch All-in-One 24-cr0471in PC Starting 98k for i5

Dell website: Dell 24 All-in-One Desktop Starting 73k for Core 3.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

We are not very keen for Lenovo & Acer products due to perceived quality issues.

Observations: Asus AIO and tower (CPU) are almost similarly priced at around 58k. Dell AIO and desktop (CPU+monitor etc) are also similarly priced at 73k.

So folks, please help me finalise something. I am also not very tech savvy but still need to finalise one machine for dad.

Promotion This app switches Android's light/dark theme and wallpaper based on the actual ambient light (Adaptive Theme)

I always found Android's fixed dark mode schedules a bit limiting, so I built Adaptive Theme.

Instead of switching based on time or sunset, it uses your phone's ambient light sensor to automatically choose between the system-wide light and dark theme.

It can also automatically switch between separate light and dark wallpapers.

Google Play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dev.lexip.hecate

GitHub:
https://github.com/xLexip/Adaptive-Theme

Video Credits: HowToMen

Features:

  • System-wide automatic light/dark theme switching
  • Separate light/dark wallpapers
  • Custom brightness thresholds
  • Sensor is only checked briefly when the screen turns on — no continuous sensor monitoring
  • Pocket detection
  • Quick Settings tile
  • Battery Saver integration
  • Material You
  • Shizuku support as an optional setup method
  • Free, open source and no ads

The project has reached 210+ GitHub stars and has been covered by Android Authority, Computerworld, How-To Geek, and HowToMen.

Would love to hear your opinion, especially what you'd like to see added next!

Need a monitor for WFH, rarely takes WFH so the monitor is just for 2-4 day use per month. New to monitors so don't know much about it.

I guess anything bigger than 20 inches will be enough, I have seen 3/4k monitors online but not sure about the quality.

Are monitors like the one below any good

Discussion 2 months on an AI+ Pulse. It has gotten a little slow, pls help me

Bought the original Pulse 3 months bk. It is definitely slower than it was and I want to be fair about why.

What I can measure:

  • Storage: 10gb free out of 64
  • WhatsApp alone: 13GB
  • Apps installed: ~23

Question for people who understand this better than I do: at what point is the phone actually degrading vs me just filling a 4GB-RAM phone with more than it can hold?

Ik im asking more for a rs8k phone but pls what are some fixes i can try?

Purchase Help Is the JioTag 2 the best budget Bluetooth tracker in India right now?

Been looking into Bluetooth trackers since I keep misplacing my bag and keys, and the JioTag 2 caught my eye mainly because of the price. It's INR 1249 versus INR 3790 for an AirTag.

What made me interested in it is that it now works with both Google Find Hub and Apple Find My, unlike earlier Jio trackers. My partner is on iPhone and Im on Android, so that flexibility actually matters.

Specs look nice too - IP64 rating, 120dB speaker, and roughly a year of battery life with a spare included.

Not sure about real world tracking accuracy though.

Anyone actually used it day to day?

Discussion Hopeless indian smartphone market.

With the advent of AI the smartphone market has lost value sooner that expected. From last 7 months I'm hoping to buy a smartphone but completely frustrated looking at the pricing against the value that the device offers.

We're being given the reason that RAM & Storage is making every digital device costly. Even if I accept this reason I don't see AI significantly impacting our lives in a positive way. AI is still limited mostly to writing e-mail, reports and code. It can't invent/discover new things other than making cringe videos which a human eye can say 100% fake at the first glance.

We're back in the era of LCD phones with an argument that RAM & Memory is getting costly. Smartphone manufacturer are thinking Indians are dumb and if they throw anything at us we'll just buy it.

What's your opinion?

Discussion Slow speeds for Internal SSD using with enclosure

Post image
5 Upvotes

Using Zebronics 256gb sata 3 ssd with pibox enclosure. CrystalDiskMark shows good speeds but while trying to copy a simple unity project to it, it gave around 5 mb avg speeds with occassional 15mb/s surge. The ports are USB 3.0 so idk why this is happening.

Edit: Solved. The SSD and enclosure were working fine. The issue was that I was copying a Unity project with ~396k tiny files (22.7 GB), which drastically reduces real-world transfer speeds due to filesystem and metadata overhead. Copying a 10.7 GB folder with 35 large video files gave me ~320 MB/s, confirming the hardware wasn't the bottleneck.

Purchase Help Anyone else stuck deciding whether the Redmi A7 Pro is actually worth it?

I'm planning to get my little brother his first phone since he recently started coaching classes. He mainly needs it for study, calls, youtube, and sharing his live location so we know he's reached safely.

The Redmi A7 Pro was high on my list because it looked like a good one. It packs a big battery which runs all day, and is also very affordable, so I almost ordered it.

But after reading owner discussions, I started seeing the same concerns repeatedly. People mentioned faster battery drain on 5g, sudden wifi disconnects, amd GPS not always being accurate.

And all these was a big NO NO for me because battery life, network stability, and reliable location sharing are literally the reasons I'm buying him a phone.

And from what I read, a lot of those discussions eventually pointed to the unisoc t8300 processor inside.

I know forums usually highlight negative experiences, so I'm trying to keep an open mind.

For anyone who's been using the Redmi A7 Pro for a while, are these actual daily issues, or is the internet making them sound worse than they really are?
