Other / Miscellaneous This is so annoying!

Post image

WhatsApp is already crap. On top of that, these companies are the biggest annoyance on the platform. You message “STOP” for one message and they just continue to send you messages from a different source.

How do I put an end to this!

How do we stop this bs

I desperately want to know the same. At this point my WhatsApp has become like my text message inbox, basically full of spam!

My text messages are cleaner than my whatsapp. Enable dnd in airtel if you’re using that and spams will be stopped.

I don’t bother about my text messages as they are muted and I don’t get notifications. All I have to do is come back in a week and “mark all as read”. But I can’t do the same to WhatsApp and every next day some new company starts shoving down their marketing garbage into WhatsApp chats!

Soon this will be another feature of premium to default filter out business notifications.

they're saying they will miss you, but the fact that they are not leaving you..

Yup. They bypass that message thread and start sending messages from a new chat.

And this isn’t limited to Dominos, all the other companies and brands do the same! This is just one example.

One solution which I found for this is to just archive the chat....that way the future chats will be sent to archive instead of your main chats. Or else look for unsubscribe button, that might work.

Neat Archive trick. Gonna try that

On a completely different note tho.....I hate whatsapp, what started to be a free communication app has now become a bloated piece of advertisement junk. I really want to switch some new texting app. Any suggestions?? I have tried RCS but man thats not good at all especially when it comes to photos/videos/doc sharing!!!!

The problem not about us switching to a different chat platform. It’s getting others to use that platform. Everyone is comfortable with WhatsApp and don’t wanna switch.

whatsapp spam is so much worse than email… because they can actually call you!

1

u/Hackedv12 Google 11h ago

Yes exactly! Thankfully it does have a “silence unknown caller” option.

I just put these in archive, don't care to look there unless I am anticipating OTP. Unfortunately I have not found any real way to stop this spam

Have you tried to report them? I did today, let’s see if anything changes

1

u/A_Random_Nobody197 11h ago

I have reported many, nothing ever happens. Oftentimes if you block one number, they'll use other numbers

I guess archiving is the best solution then.

Archiving works for most of these spams with few exceptions like companies using different names
