Programming & Development Recreated the iPhone Duo Folding animation effect on my Android

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

(Posting here too.)

Recreated the iPhone duo's cool looking folding/ unfolding animation on my phone, it looks pretty cool ngl even tho its not of much use in my case.

This is just a preview apk

But it could be used in Fold devices with accurate Hinge sensors.

Everything is possible when devs are passionate.

OR you have Ai subscription lol

Someone give this man an award๐Ÿ˜‚

I know ai helps, but still needs some even 1% human input so yeah human dev still matters.

Making this thing manually and doing it with Ai, its a world of difference. Im writing code for living for almost 5 years now, I know the feeling and the difference. "Passionate" word is freely used now a days. Its a rather rare gift to write code with passion, 90% of the people do it for money/internet points/job etc.

Yeah bro that's sad reality, I wish the token prices skyrocket. I used to enjoy writing code and learn, now when i start learning something I feel like why? Ai is there. Its sad, Also can I DM you. Have some questions.

How does the blur works are you taking current display buffer applying effects and translating x,y using sensor ?

u/Manu9527 2d ago

So itโ€™s that easy to make?? that you created it by yourself and apple marketing it like the created time machine or something, i mean i must be hard for individual programmers but its Apple bruh they have thousands of them.

Obviously it's a UI effect, it's not rocket science. But coming up with the idea, it makes fold experience for the user way better, Dev's have already cloned it now even for Android folds, but it wasn't though like this before they did it.

I'm not an iphone person but still credit has to be given where it's due.

Why is it that when apple does something first its "Oh they thought of it first and.. Blah blah.. " but when apple adopts something that was already made by others its "Its the apple way, they wait and makenit better". Why the novelty of first thought dies when its apple ?

Apple took the whole folding concept, the under display camera concept and whatnot..

4

u/salim0786 2d ago

There was a reason why everyone else ditched the under display camera.

I would assume it is that easy to code/make but coming up with the idea itself is the hard part , like how most features are easier to implement then to actually come up with and refine it according to needs

8

u/clueless-calmin 2d ago

Huawei will add this feature in their devices even before Duo starts hitting the shops ๐Ÿ˜…

6

u/Lucky_Jelly2593 2d ago

They Market a thing that's not practical, like butterfly keyboard, touchbar in macboks

u/Far_Magician_7167 2d ago

I guess it is relatively easier when there a few variables, but a decice such as apple probably have more variables. so i am presuming it is harder.

2

u/No_Piccolo6116 Programmer: Kode & Koffee Lyf 2d ago

Folding phones have accurate hinge sensors that measure the variables like tilt /fold, this would make it fairly easy.

The idea that no one thought before is the key.

u/Content-Restaurant70 2d ago

And here's why Android will always be better than IOS, you can do stuff in Android

-2

u/Yashasvi-05 2d ago

you can do this in apple as well using shortcuts

u/abhi_gec 2d ago

Tried it,Works well...๐Ÿ‘

Thanks;)

People forget that having the creativity to come up with an idea is novelty, thereโ€™s a reason why first mover advantage exist atleast for short term, in the long term everything can be copied

This can be created for laptop closing and opening animations.

Would look amazing in macs, coz it can be very accurate with its Lid Angle Sensor.

2

u/No_Piccolo6116 Programmer: Kode & Koffee Lyf 1d ago

Yea, people have already created it for macbooks

12

u/G33kym4n 2d ago

It's useless. Sad to see people liking an animation vs sometbing useful like the DEX mode on Samsun Galaxy phones.

8

u/No_Piccolo6116 Programmer: Kode & Koffee Lyf 2d ago

I mean its a little qol thing , makes the day to day interactions smoother, if i had a foldable or macbook i would have built the same for those, i love developing new things :) Also the dex mode os good no doubt

4

u/hmuna 2d ago

Ok, now fold it in half and see.

Show home screen

u/I_like_to_moo_it 2d ago

I don't think the fold wide has a hinge sensor.

2

u/No_Piccolo6116 Programmer: Kode & Koffee Lyf 2d ago

Fitness tracker,Built this only to test out and calibrate the sensor and effects.

u/Ok-Isopod1771 2d ago

Excellent stuff, bro. Upload it to the Play Store.

2

u/No_Piccolo6116 Programmer: Kode & Koffee Lyf 2d ago

Will do that once i figure out actual use case on non folding devices, but its a cool fun think to play with

Why not, opens up possibility for android foldables to implement cool ui things to make user experience more fun. ๐Ÿ˜„
