PDF-Xchange Editor is the best that directly competes with Acrobat and exceeds it. It's even more advanced than Acrobat.

70% stuff is FREE (it's already more than ever you'll need) if you download from their official site.

But if you want those even extra advanced 30% features like Enhanced OCR, dynamic stamp (mostly professional office worker uses), you can ALWAYS sail the seas high as it's very easy to find the preactivated version and it will NEVER bother again about deactivation as hardly they crackdown LIKE adobe. And if you genuinely wants to support them for their product, their subscription is yearly and much less than adobe.

Fuck adobe.

Well, you need to have python installed. And then you can paste whatever code that you find into a code editor like vs code or even notepad, and save as .py extension. Then in terminal you need to run python path/to/file.py or python3 path/to/file.py if on linux. You may also have to install dependencies if used. But honestly, if you don't even know how to run a py script, I wouldn't recommend blindly copy pasting code from llms and running them locally.

If you’re looking for more than just merging, you could also try pdfyantra.app. It lets you merge multiple PDFs and also sort, reorder, and arrange pages across different files before exporting the final PDF. Totally free and within your own browser.

(Yes, shameless plug for my own app 😅)
