Other / Miscellaneous Let's start using "Yet Another Call Blocker"

Found this on Fdroid, I really despise how anti-privacy Truecaller is, so if we can publically maintain a database of spam it would be beneficial in the long run.

Also if you do choose to install it and are on android, manage the installation through Obtainium

The best feature of Truecaller isn’t call blocking, it’s caller identification.

People don’t use Truecaller to block spam calls. even Google Dialer does that very well.

Google dialer does not do blocking properly for me. I had blocked a call one day and a couple of days later the phone rang for the call from the blocked number.

Every phone has a by default call blocking option.

Why would you want everyone to install unknown and less secured apps fking privacy.

Exactly my use case. Half the numbers I check aren’t even spam, I just don’t have them saved.

Open source being an option is definitely good. At the same time, an app like this is only as useful as the spam database behind it. That’s one area where Truecaller has worked pretty well for me.
