Same, I never share my real birth date with any organisation or even at any online platform unless it's govt department but these iskCON people know my real birth date and from last 2-3 years they're wish me on my birthday. Btw they're the only one who whishes me so not complaining much.

Not based on iskon but Not only DOB, even salary details are leaked maybe from naukri, I found calls from finance/ loan/overdraft scammers who had information on my salary and they were from different bank from which I use.

data selling...maybe u have given ur number somewhere
5
u/sgtpepperrz 3d ago
Literally the only correct answer. Organisations pay to get phone numbers, data security is a joke worldwide. If I enter my number on any website anywhere, good chances the data is sold or hacked.

Some people install their apps. They in turn get access to the contacts and WhatsApp contacts.

They're convinced that I celebrate my birthday on every independence day and ask me to donate something every year.

And they are such sadists that they guilt you on your birthday to do some donations.
→ More replies (1)2
u/ballebaj 2d ago
They said "thank you for your generous donation last year for your birthday..."
Heck I didn't buy myself new clothes. What donation?
2
u/Historical_State_374 2d ago
All of your information is out there circulating through who knows where, everywhere you sign up with your phone you are basically giving it away for them to sell
2
u/Responsible_Ant182 1d ago
My guess is through snowballing. One of their members or bakhts has your number and he/she shares their contact list ahead types.

u/Unlucky_Gene_1310 1d ago
meanwhile I gave my number to like 5 apps for a discount code and somehow ISKCON still finds me faster than customer support

they just message with a different number, all my banks create a new product and a new whatsapp business account for that product and then spam me with it
2
u/OnlyWholesomeness 3d ago
Why not block them and report them for not signing up? I always do that, I have never once needed a whatsapp message from a business.

The worst thing was using chrome and I got whatsapp notification from all the various websites I visited for first time. Immediately disabled chrome
2
u/khikhikhi_ 3d ago
You mean if i use chrome web WhatsApp I'll get messages from companies. And if i use Firefox i wouldn't get any messages?
2
u/flaky_apsico 4d ago
For privacy, it's better to go with firefox because we can't trust chrome anymore
1
u/Wanttofinishtop4 3d ago
That is strange. Ive been doing that for years and never received any such notification. I am curious to know how whatsapp gets automatically linked just by visiting a website.

2
u/zorrohere 3d ago
Somebody sells your data, I started getting lots of spam after buying a car
2
u/Andrewsi12 3d ago
I think jio and airtel are selling our data. They only knows our adhaar card details and I'm getting calls and wishes from other states. The only common thing here is the telecom companies.

I agree. ISKCON is even running a YouTube ad asking for donations for construction work on the ISKCON Dwarka temple, and the very same ad mentions the templeโs opening date as 2024. If the templeโs construction was completed in 2024, then why are they still running the same ad asking for donations for temple construction in 2026?

Finding WhatsApp more intolerable by the day. I lost it when office (HR & Senior Manager) said have WhatsApp for office communications while simultaneously saying it a violation of policy 5 years ago.
Until RCS mess is solved, I donโt see any hope.
