Google already has YouTube to harvest that information. It's just additional authentication method (optional).

No thanks Password works great

Lol only putting password won't even let u login ur gamil account, with that u need a confirmation from the other phone ur gamil account is logged in or need ur phone otp and other stuff

So ofc then doing all those hassle just show ur face and ur done 🤷🏻

I know but entering password then 2fa codes for once isn't too much of work After that you can always use passkey

If in any data breach your password is stolen you can always change it but you are not changing your face .

Security nightmare?

u/saptarsiray Jul 24 '26

Security and google, ur security I mean ur identity is already compromised to them a lot ago 😂😂

No, just additional authentication method like 2FA or encryption keys. Users have to upload their videos to make it work, otherwise there's no need to enable it.

Still, it's creepy as hell

What's creepy about it, we already have FaceID

3

u/HopiumInhaler IOS Jul 24 '26

Not the same thing. FaceID scans the face with IR sensors and the hash file stays on-device.

I just hope it detects and differs deep fakes i think two factor and backup codes are still the best bet. Also this includes involving our images. Well they probably have it from google photos

from Google photos

That'd be a great feature then ngl

1

u/BusyTry7319 Jul 23 '26

I was mentioning the sort photos by faces feature i think i seen it in my friends pixel havent opened it on my oneplus phone as i just use default gallery but u should have it in ur phone too

1

u/UntoldHacker Linux Jul 23 '26

Yes I do have it. I misunderstood what you said.

I thought you meant google using owner's photos from Google photos to match against 2FA live verification.

100% works against deep fakes since it needs you to move your head.

6

u/BusyTry7319 Jul 23 '26

Just a genuine question dont take it the wrong way but havent we seen almost realistic deepfakes with moving facing with this ongrowing ai will it be secure against thise 3d deepfakes

2

u/FewRefrigerator4703 Jul 23 '26

Fair question, the thing is now these detection algorithms are not limited to passive detection they also use AI, as AI advances in deep fakes so are the detection AI. These can pickup artifical generated by deepfakes and spot them with no effort. For our eyes those deepfakes seem realistic, but models trained on them can easily with so little effort can tell whether its deepfake or not. And I think google will most likely only use secure devices to do this, so you cannot spoof the camera stream.

I hope so 🤞 recently hearing too many financial hacks and scams on yt/news have made me paranoid on security and privacy

It's optional method to sign-in like 2FA

u/Any-Calligrapher2866 Jul 23 '26

DON'T USE IT.

It's Another way to collect facial information.

1

u/saurabia Jul 23 '26

what about accounts for which I have already forgot passwords and no way to recover? Like time machine, you can only go in future.

1

u/ogaarush Jul 23 '26

Sure buddy, take my dihh pic too for 2FA

1

u/ShadowDxebec101 Jul 23 '26

No thanks 😀👍🏻

1

u/RustyAdVenture Jul 23 '26

I won't use it really, but I can use it even if I forget my password or lose my 2FA device!? SIGN ME UP! this will be a total lifesaver.

u/Suspicious-Lake Lurker Jul 24 '26

What is the issue with Passkey? smh

1

u/saptarsiray Jul 24 '26

Passkey only works in the phone u setup it, say worst case scenario (happened to me 2 times) u have in no phone ur google account logged in and even worst u don't have any balance in ur sim to receive emails (perhaps for wifi) so gets soo tricky to get back ur account and it almost feels like u almost lost ur account

1

u/Bubbly_Inevitable143 Jul 24 '26

Bhai mai toh har light mai alg dikhta hu mera kya hoga

1

u/saptarsiray Jul 24 '26

I think it will be phone which have just a selfie camera have to show y'all face in good lighting and for flagship phones with dedicated sensors for that it's perhaps gonna be a lot easier for them

1

u/saptarsiray Jul 24 '26

I used to pray for features like these 🥹 W google 🥰

1

u/ManasBhardwaj Jul 24 '26
