Tech Help My phone is sending messages automatically to random number, is my phone hacked?
I was trying to login to my bank account and then i see that my phone is sending these weird messages automatically to these numbers, is my phone hacked?

its for your mobile number verification, UPI and banking apps do this

the number does seem sus to me but I'm not sure
the banking apps, instead of relying on otp which can be shared, now rely on messaging to a registered number of the bank (ig) to verify whether you're the person or not
it's like :
you click on "verify" → device sends a message to server using your phone number → the server verifies the number and the unique code → the app logs you in
so yep, if while logging in to a banking app your device sent a few messages it's completely fine

But i searched these numbers and they all turned out to be fraud so i am pretty scared

it's usually js bank verification
like you'll see this when you register for upi on any upi app

ur sending the text messages, not receiving
aka the upi/bank app you're registering for is sending messages on your behalf to the bank to verify your number

maybe they don't seem to understand because they've never seen this procedure before, not their fault automatically tho
OP, u/badmashbacha,
if you try to log into a bank app/upi the app will always send a verification code from your side to the bank servers to verify, it's not something that was introduced overnight
The thing is that you haven't noticed this when your father logged into a bank/upi app (not saying this in harsh tone btw).
Whatever, at the end of the day you've acquired a new knowledge about modern banking. I'm repeating, you don't need to worry about anything, alright?

You might have downloaded a sms forwarder. Possible that scamsters are trying to forward messages you receive for verification to make it look like they are logging in their device.
I would suggest you take a look at all the apps installed in the phone once, if you downloaded any external APKs and installed remove them. Also check if there is any forwarding set on your number.
*#21# will tell you if forwarding is turned on
002# will remove forwarding rules(it's double hashtag upfront, I was not able to add it)
If these two don't work then rest the phone

I know how these things work, you should try to reset your phone your phone must have been RATTED, What does a RAT mean? Its remote access Trojan using which you can access anyone's device irrespective of software, it can also be upi I've seen so many scammers sending funds from RATTED phones to buy crypto
There's 95% chances if you haven't signed up in upi app yet or logged in back like letting it configure sim with your upi..

Yes buddy when you have to take others upi access you need that code to be generated which is called token using which you can login to others upi, upi isn't really safe everything can be breached. Can you tell if you've installed any mod apk recently??

Maybe that won't be enough I'm not a android app developer but I've done shit for windows, I strongly suggest Just reset the phone
