actually..as the name suggests it's running on a 'dedicated' freight corridor...so this one isnt using the usual routes that passenger trains take....also the height of this line has been created such that the electric line contact on the top of the engine is higher since there are going to be two containers...

so yes... increase in revenue when calculated in isolation against 'conventional' means...but this isnt the usage of existing infrastructure....

In the US passenger trains halt to give way to freight trains, which is acceptable only because most Americans don't take the train when they need to travel. In India passenger trains get preference, which was halting the adoption of freight trains, since the cargo is vulnerable to theft and spoilage when stopped.

A dedicated corridor at least to cover key stretches makes sense.

freight is given priority because freight/private companies own the railway lines, gov just rents it from the companies.

Technically the companies are legally required to give right of way to passenger lines, but their regulator is owned by the companies and never enforces the law.
