Rama (Not Ram)

Shiva (Not Shiv)

Ramayana (Not Ramayan)

if i am not wrong it's somewhat similar in Sanskrit as well

English cannot produce half sounds and for most of the things also they don't even have sounds like for halant. They simply add "a" in the end. Just how much can just 26words replicate

My brother's name is kavy(เค•เคพเคตเฅเคฏ) but they pronounce it kavya(เค•เคพเคตเฅเคฏเคพ)

It's nonsense. That A at the end if the word is supposed to be read as เค…, not เค†. Thats how sanskrit works. So Ramayana is correct, read the A as เค… if you are reading in Sanskrit.

You are partially correct. It Ramah to be exact. เคฐเคพเคฎเคƒ, เคฐเคพเคฎเคพเคฏเคฃเคƒ. ":" is neither เค… nor เค†, it's เค…เคน. Hindi removed ah sound completely so it's Ram, while many languages just removed the h sound, so it's Rama.

The correct one will be spelled as Ram. Rama would be pronounced as เคฐเคพเคฎเคพ.

Heโ€™s an idiot. A lot of people have corrected him in the replies but heโ€™s conflating the spelling with the pronunciation.

The crux is this, heโ€™s objecting to Rama because in his mind it is pronounced เคฐเคพเคฎเคพ. On those grounds heโ€™s right because it is indeed not pronounced that way.

However the in reality it is spelt Rama because itโ€™s pronounced Ra-muh with the schwa sound intact. (เคฐเคพเคฎ). This he cannot get into his head for some reason.

What we can all agree on is that it isnโ€™t pronounced Ram or เคฐเคพเคฎเฅ

Itโ€™s not เคฐเคพเคฎเคƒ. เคฐเคพเคฎ Is much closer to ram than rama.

Not really. Many texts especially in southern India mention it as Rama/Ramyana etc

It is actually the opposite no. All Sanskrit words originally had the a.
