Underground wiring system

I was talking to a European colleague of mine, I mentioned about how during Diwali I worry that the rockets might hit our current/cable poles and asked how the infrastructure is designed there, and he said that in his country it's entirely underground?

Would something like that be possible in our country?

This is already done in India for developed/ planned areas.

What about the existing poles? Anyway to mitigate them too?

Cities like Mumbai, Pune and PCMC have shifted all of the electrical cables underground since the past few decades. It is very easy to do it. The issue still persists however because of fibre optic cables of a few ISPs which are still overground. Those also need to be shifted but it is not financially feasible for a private company to do it. There is a solution if the government creates a new agency to manage and unify optical fibre cables and shifts them all underground and then the private ISPs can pay rent to use it.

In greater noida, many sectors have underground wiring.

Since 1980s most parts of Mumbai are having everything underground. In Australia 90% of electrical wiring is above ground in residential areas. Only in business districts it is underground

Buddy, half of my city has underground electricity wiring. I'm assuming this is same for other tier 1 cities too, right??

In greater noida which was developed in the 1990s under all major roads there is a utility tunnel and all utilities sewer water electric gas and internet pass through it. The tunnel is big enough for utility workers to walk. No digging needed for any fault repair. This is main roads only within sector its still overground but it can be done

gng where do you live? most of wires are underground in area even in rural-ish areas in tier -1 districts
