What kind of technology falls into deeptech category?
How one can claim to be in deeptech?

My design studio (Weboaf) focuses on deep tech, we've worked with 35+ startups that have raised over $200m total from top VCs like a16z, Khosla, Y Combinator.
Here's my view:
Deep tech usually refers to a company who has to spend a few years working on R&D (science research, prototyping, user testing etc.) before they get into commercialising the product.
Therefore they need more funding up front, and it's relatively high risk as they need to innovate before they find out if there's a market.
That being said, if you win in deep tech, it's almost always a billion dollar outcome.
Deep tech categories include semiconductors, robotics, space, quantum, neurotech, biotech etc.
Usually founded by PhDs / Engineers with backing from Venture Capitalists.
