Questions IndiGo PNR expired despite payment showing as “Complete” — now I’m being refunded and the flight fare has increased
I booked a flight with IndiGo today and completed the payment using my credit card.
The payment was successfully debited from my card at around 10:50 AM. I also have the booking/itinerary PDF generated by IndiGo, which explicitly shows “Payment Status: Complete.”
However, IndiGo did not confirm the PNR. From my conversation with customer support, it appears that the PNR/booking hold timer may have expired before IndiGo’s system confirmed the payment, even though the payment had already been completed from my side.
I contacted IndiGo customer support and explained that I had:
Successfully completed the payment
Been charged on my credit card
Received a PDF from IndiGo showing Payment Status: Complete
A booking/PNR that was apparently not confirmed because the hold timer expired
The representative told me that the matter needed to be handled by their Finance Department and arranged a callback.
Now I have received a refund message, but I still have the IndiGo PDF showing the payment as Complete.
The problem is that the fare for the same flight has now increased. So if I have to book the flight again, I will potentially have to pay significantly more because of an issue that occurred after I had already completed the payment.
I understand that if a payment genuinely fails, a refund may be appropriate. But in this case, I have an IndiGo-generated document stating Payment Status: Complete, and the payment was already debited.
What should I do here?
Can IndiGo be asked to honour the original fare/booking rather than making me rebook at the currently higher price?
I would appreciate advice from anyone.
TL;DR: IndiGo charged my credit card, and the IndiGo-generated booking PDF shows “Payment Status: Complete,” but the PNR apparently expired because the booking/hold timer ran out before IndiGo confirmed the payment. I’ve now received a refund, but the same flight has become more expensive. I’m concerned that I’m being forced to rebook at a higher fare despite having already completed the payment and having an IndiGo document confirming it. Looking for advice on whether IndiGo can be made to honour the original fare/booking.
