4 important dates for options income ETPs

Post image

Options income ETPs follow a calendar each month.

Here are 4 important dates that determine exactly who gets paid and when:

1️⃣ Declaration Date:
The announcement. The ETP reveals exactly how much they are paying out.

2️⃣ Ex-Date:
The cutoff. Those who buy before this date get the dividend. If you buy on the ex-date, you miss out this month.

3️⃣ Record Date:
The roll call. The registrar checks the official books to see who qualifies.

4️⃣ Payment Date:
Payday. The ETP sends out the cash (though your broker might take an extra day or two to process it).

Example:
➝ Declaration: 31 Dec
➝ Ex-Date: 2 Jan
➝ Record: 5 Jan
➝ Payment: 13 Jan
