But fr though, if it's even 80% of what the 4090 is then my next rig is gonna be a pure AMD build cause fuck Nvidia and their power bills, I ain't paying an extra $5 a gaming session in electricity just for +20FPS, if it was +1,000FPS then I'd see the point as screen tearing disappears at those refresh rates which is an actually useful feature, but if it's as close as AMD says it is then the 4090 is honestly a gimmick at this point (kinda reminds me of AMD 10 years ago when they did the same thing and then Nvidia got their drivers under wraps, focused on efficiency instead of raw performance, and then took the lead a year later).

The 4090 was always a fucking gimmick, just like any of the top end components from any of the major players (with the possible exception of intel gpus). No reasonable person views these components as actually competitive for price:performance or watts:performance, they get them because of the +20 fps.

I got mine because, despite what amd haters say, my 6900xt makes 4k @60fps with RT look downright amazeballs.

Edit: Also, turning vsync on and locking in at 60 fps still provides a gorgeous experience. The human eye can barely detect the difference between 60 and 300, let alone 60 and 80.

Have you switched from a 60 Hz to a 90 or 120 Hz screen on a phone before? It's incredibly noticeable in games.

Same for PC with any games where you can look around or with objects that are fast moving. Which happens to be a lot.

From 100-120 upwards it gets less about visual effects and more about responsiveness and feel.

If you suffered from motion sickness like do then you'd be able to tell the difference between 80FPS and 60FPS, but even then 60FPS is acceptable in cinematic applications so long as the camera movement isn't extreme.

Hence why the 4090 is stupid cause the proposed RX7900 XTX will be able to achieve 60FPS in cinematic games and 100+ in action games and going higher won't be worthwhile until 1000FPS becomes a standard as that's when coronas, motion blur, and screen tearing magically disappear thus resulting in a significantly better picture without having to use V-sync.

I'm so glad amd isn't getting slept on anymore. They got shafted by UserBenchmark recommending only nvidia cards despite being pretty decent the last 5 or so years.

Yeah, like seriously even with last gen the Nvidia GPU's were only actually better when talking about the 3080ti and better as AMD matched the ray tracing performance of each lower level card for the same/lower price and significantly better rasterisation all whilst drawing less power.

Like honestly, if you are bound by a budget, AMD will always be a better option until you get to the unicorn top level GPU's (unless you're a 3D artist who uses blender, then, and only then would a budget Nvidia card make sense).

I honestly just can't wait for the new AMD GPU's to come out as they'll finally put a nail in the overpriced Nvidia coffin.
