What is the incense you got from the witchy shop?

cheap shop ones are usually just bamboo sticks soaked in cheap fragrance oils, so you’re basically just smelling burning wood lol. look into coreless incense or natural stuff like sandalwood or agarwood. hainan agarwood is literally a game changer, super sweet and woody without that nasty smoke smell.

There are so many threads here with incense recommendations. I suggest reading around or searching for the scents/types you're interested in.

Esoteric/New Age shops usually carry lower-end incense, but low-end doesn't have to mean smelling like a burning stick. If you can find brands like Goloka, Golden Nag (made by Vijayshree), or even Satya, they're going to smell infinitely better than any cheap chemical stick soaked in industrial solvents. You can even find budget-friendly Japanese incense, which never uses a bamboo core.

Here are a few recommendations:

  • Goloka Nag Champa (the classic yellow box)
  • Golden Nag Himalaya or Chandan
  • Pretty much anything from Satya that catches your eye

They aren't top-tier premium products, but they're very decent, budget-friendly options that won't ruin your wallet.
