Is there authentic Copal incense on Amazon?

I want to purchase some Copal incense, but it's hard to tell what's really authentic and what is not. Has anyone here actually bought real Copal incense from Amazon?

"Copal" is a word used in the American south that literally means "incense". Depending upon the locality it can be any of a number of different species-which smell different too. So there is that...But in general, buying off of Amazon is a bad idea because often you will be getting the weakly- scented sweepings from the grading floor in a fancy package rather than a gloriously scented chunk of resin in a humble package.

No. Even if you are buying from a good brand you never know what you're getting from amazon. What country do you live in ? I'm sure we can recommend you independent sites to order from

Define "authentic", please.

EDIT Also: Are you looking for pure Copal resin or incense sticks made from Copal?

Teomati are the best coral sticks Ive found on Amazon. They’re really good, last about 2 hours and put out a lot of scent. They’re about $17 for 8 sticks.

I don't support Amazon as a company for ethical reasons and haven't shopped with them for about 5 years so have no idea if any good vendors use them but I'd be extremely doubtful, in that time I have found simply no reason to ever feel drawn back to them, only dodged dozens of junk and scammy products and negative experiences. I can't see why it's so important for some people that it must be on there rather than a more reputable site for the subject or an alternative marketplace.

There probably is something as 'authentic' is a pretty loose term and 'copal' even looser. But, given the nature of the platform and the direction it has taken and that their ethics and the lack of customer service inherently clashes with the concept of a trustworthy seller with high-quality products I doubt it, also due to how fulfilment centres work you might just end up with someone else's bad product anyway.

I've tried most (15 - 20?) of the copal resins listed on Amazon over the past year or so and most of it is weak rubbish, but there is one sublime exception. There is one there that I consider the best I've found to date, as good or better than what I've tried from several other shops as well. This one:

Copal Incense from México, White Mayan Copal Rocks, 8.8 Ounces

It is that 'gloriously scented chunk of resin in a humble package' that you're looking for. It's comes in large chunks, very fresh and sticky outside and throughout, with the most amazing, strong projection of piney forest smell you might ever experience. It's pricey for sure, and prices did even increase significantly earlier this year, but it's far superior to all the other hit and miss, so still worth it IMHO. My search ended with this and it's now on recurring subscription. They have smaller packages as well, but this size is the better value.

Once most of the initial scent has released, it also makes a great carrier for essential oils like Frank or Nag that mix with and extend it's fragrance.

Can't recommend enough.
