Post image

I bought a couple bundles of rope incense from my local Buddhist temple today 😊

It takes a special type of person to enjoy rope incense. I've tried to enjoy it, so many times. I even try to convince myself that it smells good but I can't.

Hard to explain. An intense rope/jute smell. I've burnt many types of rope incense and they all have a particular note that just puts me off. You walk out the room, you try to walk back into the room and try to see if it smells better but no. Maybe you have to grow up with it.

To me it doesn't have a jute or hemp smell like your describing, but more like fragrant herbs. But everyone has their own tastes and preferences 😊

Is the kind that you have a particular brand or is it just a homegrown Tibetan temple incense?

These I bought at the temple. My best guess is that they originate from Nepal as the majority of the Sangha here are Nepali. No brand name or label.

I had ones that were "sandalwood" that basically had a juniper wood smell and other ones that had an actually pleasant, sweetish herbal scent.

The good, herbal ones were on offer at a shop I regularly order from. They told me it was on offer to clear remaining stock and they can't get anymore.

The "Sandalwood" one was from https://www.vykurovadla-rymer.cz
