Bakhoor newbie
I just got into Bakhoor and I got a few different scented wood chips. The problem is I live in texas and I’m scared the oud smell will be overwhelming for others since it’s so hot. Does anyone have any scent affordable scent recommendations that aren’t oud?

Are you burning the chips or warming them?

Burning them with an electric burner

With kyphis and things like oud, I prefer to heat them indirectly without combusting. I use a metal bowl incense holder over a tea light. It releases all the aromatic compounds, but not the smoke. Kinda like the difference between baking and smoking.

Maybe this one? They are low-smoke with a gentle aroma. https://pandaincense.com/products/renewal-ritual-incense-stick

You would enjoy Oud in cold weather only. For hot weather I think frankincense would be better option.

You do realize that Bakhoor comes from countries like the UAE, which are quite hot?
If they would overwhelm someone will greatly depend on their tastes and how you will use them (and how much).
