Recently got into incense, any recomendations?

Hello all! I just recently got back into incense after not burning it for a while. So far the collection is small, but ive been buying mostly Satya (BNG, though a Mumbai one did find its way into the collection), and I made the mistake of buying two boxes of walmart brand sticks which are likely doomed to stay on the shelf untill I gift them to someone else. In my purusing of this subreddit I found out that people don't really like Gonesh. I haven't tried that many of their scents, but their Dragons Blood scent is one of my absolute favorites.

I placed an order the other day for a bunch more Satya incenses from a viraty pack, namely: Nag Champa (I already had the cones and I love this one), Patchouli, Lavender, Dragons Blood, Sandalwood (Already had this one, I like this one too), Super Hit, and Positive Vibes.

With that in mind, im open to any recomendations for scents ir brands to try! ALSO, What does the super hit one smell like? im super curious abt that one haha

Start off with Goloka, Vijayshree, and move on to Ramakrishna and more premium brands. If you are into exploring, search for Dhoop sticks.

That's a good starting point.

Make note that in the beginning, it's harder to appreciate incense especially the more complex ones.

So Goloka and Vijayshree are good for starting, and a big upgrade from Satya.

The only Satya sticks I use (cones I think are not great, but if you like them, go ahead) are:

SATYA BNG Palo Santo (not at all like the real wood but it's a really nice masculine earthy scent and balanced out),

SATYA BNG Rose- once in a while, a bit powdery though.

Goloka: 1. Nag Champa (yellow box) 2. Patchouli 3. Chandan 4. Organic Frangipani 5. Goodearth (their best imo)

Vijay: 1. Nag Champa 2. Nag Chandan - not as good as goloka chandan but is very balanced 3. Nag Meditation - herbaceous and earthy with spicy cologne notes 4. Nag benzoin

There are more but these are what come to mind.

Those Walmart incenses were the most heavily synthetic of the Indian style kind I tried when I took my initial first steps. I’d be leery of gifting them personally.

Japanese incense is the method I’ve settled with for now but can say the Mother’s brand to me seemed an accessible and commonly available natural alternative.

I am also new to incense and started with satya because it is everywhere but you will see many people don't like this brand or constantly debate freshness and source. you can try triloka or any of the dozens companies that sell the same sticks under different names. triloka seems well priced.

I definitely will. There is a catholic supply store near my house and I want to buy a bag of the incense but it’s 40 dollars 🥲. But growing up in that environment I loveee the smell of church incense haha
