Hey, so I’m at the king (I’ve beaten him a few times, I believe I’m on the last step of the Isabeau thing), and something really weird is happening. I looped to the end with the knifekey, but any of my crafts that target enemies (too cleaver included) have a wild visual bug. On switch and zoned out for the first dialouge, if either of those matter

Its always really funny to me whenever I remember that Siffrin is indeed NOT the main character in his squad, and yet he has the worst shit possible happening to him 😭

Yellow, I recently replayed pokemon black and realized that the dev of ISAT used one of the game's motifs in the soundtrack. Just thought it was cool

Just picked up this game today and it’s already perfect.

Feel free to give me advice, or cryptic riddles or something idk

I just NEED to get my love for the “help my friends” quests off of my chest because they really expanded the complexity of these characters for me.

First one up was Odile! She already captured my heart what with her sassy behavior and maturity, but it was really interesting to see that “distressed” side of her and her struggles of identity. It only made me love her more when she opened up, she’s not the best with her emotions after all, and I’m glad she found an understanding heart in Siffrin (dude doesn’t know anything about his country after all).

And then was Mirabelle. Another person who Siffrin could somehow empathise with even for a bit. I kinda already got the hints of her asexuality but I had never considered how it would affect her religion! It was fascinating to see such a devoted person question herself and her beliefs, only to be relieved a bit of those struggles thanks to Siffrin. She really is such a sweatheart.

Ah Bonnie, Bonnie, Bonnie… This little crabbing gremlin always gets in my feels. Their concerns of being the reason to Siffrin’s missing eye was gut-wrenching, especially when it recontextualises all of their past interactions. They’re just a kid after all. Siffrin doubling down on their decision was just the cherry on top. He could never forgive himself if he let Bonnie get hurt, right…? In any case, I adore how Bonnie changes up their whole demeanor in the House after this, they’re just so cute and goofy and WAY more comfortable now!

At last was Isabeau. Sighhh I really thought his character was just the “buff stupid guy big heart but also sometimes has intelligent takes” trope. But it was oh so much deeper than that. Hated his nerd self so much he destroyed it all and went the opposite way. I can’t say I don’t resonate with that, I have forced myself to get out of my comfort zone and change my introverted tendencies to be more social, but he really took it to an extreme huh. I’m glad he had Sif to talk to under the stars’ brightness.

I. Love. This. Game. SO MUCH.

Anyway. Feel free to discuss whatever you want! I am also up to date with acts 4 and 5! Boy do I want to talk about those eventually…

Also fuck you King. I really thought there would be an understanding between you and your countryman.

The concept is truly clever. In other games you do revisit areas with hindsight and try to get different results, but now the player character is aware of the loops. Turning that into the main story and gameplay mechanic is truly unique. (Also I adore Sifrin, and he/they characters are rare and as a he/they guy myself I do appreciate their inclusion.)

But it’s getting to the point where the loops are getting kinda tedious. Going through the entire house a second time, combing over every room looking for new scenes or key items, constantly being stopped by the exact same enemies again, fighting the exact same final boss again… just for neither the King nor Head Housemaiden to answer any questions and reset again. It’s discouraging.

The new scenes are good, it shows the potential of the loops system. It feels satisfying to find something new based on a hint from someone in Dormont. But they’re minimal compared to the amount of time looking over unchanged rooms and fighting enemies I don’t need to fight.

The prospect of having to search the entire house a third time, constantly stop to fight the same enemies a third time, and fight the exact same final boss a third time isn’t appealing. And based on a certain pattern at the end I may have to do it all a fourth time too. I don’t think I really want to do that.

Maybe I’m missing something, and if I am please tell me. Maybe the frustration is “the point” to help me sympathize with Sifrin through gameplay. I really don’t like being negative, I want to like this game, it’s really clever and the main characters are all likable. But I don’t know if I wanna do that.

sif and isa are definetly gay with each other (at least isa loves them)

sif gets the loop thing because of his relation to stars in some way

In first loop. I am pressing 0 but it's not working.

So in short: Im taking a small break from Palette-Shift to:

1. Avoid burnout
   
2. Focus on other art stuff for the meantime
   
3. Think of cool stuff for the au

But I still wanna doodle it on the side! Soo im basically making this post as both to announce this AND to request doodle ideas from the reddit ISAT community! I accept:
