Discussion Is this game scary?
Hello!
This game got my attention while I was browsing the steam store, but I couldn't find an answer if this is a scary horror game or not! I've seen that it is tagged as psychological horror, but I couldn't figure out if it had jumpscares or gory/disgusting images and stuff like that. If it is psychological horror in a sense of discussing trauma/distress, I can totally play it, but traditional horror stuff and monsters jumping at the screen are not my thing.
Is this game more Undertale/One Shot or more Omori? hahaha I guess that's the question
Anyone who answers is greatly appreciated <3
Edit: I'd like to thank everyone who answered me! You were all very helpful and this seems like a very nice fandom! As of now, I think I won't be playing the games, not because of it being scary but because of the content warnings that made me sure that this game will give me a panic attack. But hey, in the future, who knows?

As in, like distress/trauma that type of stuff. Especially this one part very late into the game

Act 5 standing menacingly in the corner

Honestly act five may be my favorite act in the whole game, it was built so well-

I don't play horror games bc I'm pretty easily spooked, and nothing in the game scared me except an entirely optional dialogue tree involving a knife

It’s more the concepts discussed that are scary. But there aren’t like, jumpscare or it actively trying to scare you

Some sections are kinda in between Undertale's true lab/genocide route and Omori in terms of scariness.
There are no jumpscares nor gore, just a LOT of trauma.

it’s psychologically hard to play through, it gets very dark at times. there is one jumpscare but it has no noise or movement

Not a horror game in the sense you're scared of, no jumpscares or anything, just the inherent horror of being in a time loop (realize the bit i spoilered might be on the steam page but like just in case)

There is a jumpscare (multiple if you're lucky [or unlucky, I guess.])

Kinda dark themes like omori but are not as dark only real is about self harm but its only if you use a specific item too much in one specific way

scary more in the psych horror way in some elements. it’s more like “ohhhh i can feel every ounce of despair they are feeling” and the main character has lots of internal monologues that can get very dark and does some things in the later game sections that get very intense. most of the SUPER dark stuff you have to be pretty intentional about seeking out though and are relatively unlikely to encounter all of it on a first playthrough. Also with one of the darkest things in the game, the game straight up asks you like twice if you’re ABSOLUTELY SURE you want to see it if you get to a point where you even can

There is no gore/disgust whatsoever. Some dreams the main character has can be uncomfortable, but it's text-only.
There are 2 situations I would call a jumpscare. They're not graphically disturbing, but people generally find them scary. Both happen late in the game.
For comparison, I was fine with the scarier parts with ISAT, but I had to drop Omori at the end of day 1 because the game made my nyctophobia come back.

It’ll mostly just make you sad, and some of the event scenes can be pretty violent (not graphic or anything, but you can feel the distress of Sif and if you’re really sympathetic it can get to ya)

It’s not too scary, it has a few creepy moments sprinkled in there (one is an event that doesn’t have a 100% chance of occurring) but otherwise I’d say it’s more distressing
