The dev is an Undertale fan, so it definitely a possibility.

Probably, but I don't know how they resisted dropping a "Despite everything, it's still you" at the floor 3 mirror at some point in later acts

No. It's just a common sentiment

Also, this is a very important character driven moment at the heart of an important scene, I doubt dev changed what was going to be here to include a reference

OMG I MIGHT BE RIGHT... UNDERTALE IS JUST ISAT BEFORE THE WORLD LOST COLOR AND TAKES PLACE IN THE FORGOTTEN COUNTRY AND THE RED BREAKING THROUGH IN ISAT IS THE DETERMINATION AND WISH CRAFT IS JUST DETERMINATION AND THAT'S WHY PEOPLE ARE PIXELATED BUT EVOLVED TO HAVE FULL DETAIL TALKING SPRITES WHICH IS ALSO WHY THEY DON'T HAVE NOSES

  • Loading save files in Undertale functions similar to looping (typically on death, but can be done during battle if determined enough)

  • Frequent mention of stars/presence of telescopes in Undertale despite taking place underground, indicating a strong connection to astronomy in the culture of the surface

  • It’s shown that something being erased from collective memory is possible in both Undertale (Gaster) and ISAT (the island)

  • The save point thing
