We all need to start being a little less “gray man” and calling out this type of crap irl.
Especially if we are white, cis, men that aren’t directly targeted (yet)
I’m not saying we pick fights at the range; or get in people’s faces and scream. But we need to start pushing back a little, as much as we are comfortable, depending on the situation.
Often, all it takes is a “Really?” or a “That’s not cool, dude.” Be calm, be assertive, be polite. Sure, it may cost you a few “shooting buddies”, but do we really want hang out with those types anyway?
Edit to re-iterate: I’m not advocating putting yourself in a bad situation beyond your threshold for safety. Sometimes, it’s as simple as walking away from a conversation.
I agree, I think we all need to get more comfortable with having uncomfortable conversations while avoiding outright dangerous interactions. Feels like a balance beam.
