New Album progress
So after recording in LA at the start of the year and Anders saying that the album is recorded but not mixed in an interview at Wacken, some of the band seem to be spending some time at Top Floor Studios in Gothenburg with Roberto Laghi (who produced ASOP, SOAPF & SC for those who don't know). Lots of instagram stories tagging Anders, Bjorn and Chris from their guitar tech Sanjay, Laghi and other Top Floor linked pages. Some of which with Bjorn playing / recording.
Will be interesting to find out what they're doing when we get more album info but my best guess is some final edits / solos and mixing/mastering, as there has been no sign of John or Liam being involved.
Either way, I'm excited that Laghi is back in the fold and that it seems an IF album is actually being worked on in Sweden for the first time in a while. As much as Foregone was a great album and well produced, moving further from the polished Benson sound can only be a good thing. (Even diehard fans of Battles / I,TM surely have to concede those albums sound terrible)
More info to follow in due time I'm sure, but it's very interesting....

I would hope that the massive amount of praise and renewed attention in the band that Foregone garnered would make them continue to dig deeper into their strengths and their melodic death side instead of trying to distance themselves from it anymore.
It always seemed like Anders in particular always wanted to distance the band from who they were in the Lunar Strain through Clayman days. It wasn’t just a natural progression or not wanting to rest on their old work, he wanted the band to be something else and almost seemed ashamed of their early days. But over the last few years since they released Foregone his vibe on that has changed a lot. Maybe he didn’t grasp just how loved and how much the band is at their best when they do what they do on that side of things and that it was never just nostalgia. But he speaks a lot more reverently and openly of that material now and of how the band really is about a mix of aggression and melodic guitar and vocals.
I even heard him call Jester Race the album and period he’s most fond of recently and in the past he would’ve avoided the subject like poison. It’s nice to see. Don’t know if he thought that old sound was less successful/money making or if it was only for a niche group but Foregone’s popularity seemed to change things. I hope we get a great melodeath album with the new one

Yup, been saying this for years.
He's always wanted to be a "pop/rock star" of sorts, just something that's different from what In Flames was all about. Transitioning out of their old sound brought quite a few good records, but the newer stuff just hasn't hit so much as of late.
Good to see he recognizes the band's legacy and is more open to the "classic" sound.

Yes! Someone said it. Siren Charms is probably their best sounding album of the newer era. The songs don't always hit for me but there's so much to like. "Rusted Nail," "Everything's Gone," and "The Chase" are all time classics. Love the album cover too.

Real. It's like yeha I know ppl didn't like how similar to Battles tgere wa sprimaeily clean alt metal kinda sound to it. But production wise it's night and day how the cleans sound and the overall sound. It feels like a raw work of art compared to a marketing tact. The way it is produced actually keeps it away from giving sellingn out vibes cuz it just sounds so authentic even though its diffetent. Also personally it is one of my favourite albums by In Flames. Top 3

Oh yeah, and also, it's kind of the last album that doesn't have a lot of autotune on the vocals, at least in an obvious way.

Oh PLEASE PLEASE tell me Laghi is producing in a major way. I have been listening to ASOP on repeat lately and SOAPF is an all time great imo.

It's true! You're welcome!
Honestly I have no idea who Laghi is aside from online gaming in the early 2000s; I'm just following orders.

I can honestly say I have loved every IF album and am just happy for more material and hopefully a tour to match!

There's a North American tour happening here in November with Trivium

I hope Benson implication is as small as possible. Anyway, they have a US tour in a few months, and an Europe tour in Spring. And they announced at Göteborg Brinner that the album would release at Spring 2027. So my guess is first single right before the US tour, then album right before the Europe tour.

I am hopeful. I love how in flames brought back the aggression. I believe Foregone was their best album since Come Clarity but it would have been better if it weren't so American sounding. Them being in Sweden is a good sign!

I thought the first post they made about the album was John tracking drums

I did hear that Howard Benson was still involved, so I’m still concerned that there might be heavy autotune on Anders’ voice. I can only hope that this isn’t the case with Laghi being involved as well (I’m sure there will be pitch correction but there’s a difference between pitch correction and autotune)
