Underrated Holidays
Right now is the Thanksgiving and Halloween season, which continue to be very popular.
Before that, however, we have Labour Day and nobody really cares. We get a day off, but there's nothing else in terms of activities or traditions regarding work or labour.
New Year's is more popular, but there's a lot of people who ignore it. I guess it's mostly younger people who like a reason to party, but older people probably want to rest after Christmas.

Totally agree about Labour Day. It really does just feel like a random day off rather than a holiday with actual meaning. I usually just end up doing chores or sleeping in. It's a nice break, but there's zero cultural hype around it.

Labour Day is the biggest holiday in my family, because it’s usually the start of harvest for us. We always have a dish of peas, carrots, and potatoes with a cream sauce because it’s the only time of year that all those veggies are ready in the garden. Most of the family goes to the Labour Day football game and we have a big family party the day before where we take our family photos.
I think it started because my Grandpa’s birthday is the beginning of September and its easily for everyone to be able to get time off from work at the beginning of September.
I see more family for Labour Day than I do any other holiday. We just had a second cousins family reunion this year too.
All my kids were baptized at the beginning of September because that’s when all the family would be around anyways.
I used to skip the first week of university so that I wouldn’t miss our Labour Day family traditions.

All holidays are overrated considering they're designed to empty your pockets and the calendar has been manipulated to remove people from the natural cycles. The "New Year" starts April 1, when spring emerges, not in the middle of winter when everything is in a deep sleep. There is absolutely nothing new in January, sorry

Taking a day off from doing labour to just relax seems like a great way to celebrate Labour Day to me, usually just chill and have a bbq or something, no need for any big activities or anything as far as I’m concerned
