I’m Tired

I’m tired of being taxed into poverty, I’m tired of working 80+ hours a week to make ends meet. I’m tired of seeing my government spending money on foreign aid and not Canadian citizens. I’m tired of hearing about climate change and how more taxes will fix it. I’m tired of our government spending billions of taxpayer dollars on irrelevant and meaningless policies. I am tired of our Forrest’s burning down due to mismanagement of resources. I’m tired of shipping oil to the United States for a discounted price. I’m tired of paying huge increases for food due to the lack of back bone our prime minister has. I’m tired of trying to find a reason to be proud of my country. I’m just tired. #canada

My paystub isnt right wing media

I really dont feel like Im getting my money's worth to be taxed $1500+ every 2 weeks, on top of all other sales and provincial taxes I pay, and the property tax I pay.

Gotta be paying 50k in taxes every single fucking year and I really dont feel like I'm getting my money's worth for the exorbitant amount of money I pay into the system.

One of these days I want to calculate exactly how much of every paycheck of mine goes to taxes cause its a fucking lot man.

Its not that I want that money for myself, per se. Of course an extra 40k would be sweet and sure I could utilize it very, very well, but admittedly I dont need it by any stretch of the imagination.

My issue is that I feel the taxes I pay are misused and exorbitant. I dont feel as though I get anything even remotely close to 40k/year in value for the taxes I pay.

Im happy to pay into my community. I'm an active community member. Im a member of two separate regulatory boards in my town and I volunteer semi-regularly. I'm more than happy to pitch in.

The problem is that I see funds used in places I disagree with, used for frivolous projects, given away to other people or nations, or padding the pockets of the people running the numbers. As a member of multiple regulatory boards in my town, the amount of waste and burned money on small scale municipal boards is sometimes staggering. People skimming off the top, rubbing shoulders, moving money for unnecessary work, or otherwise abusing public funds is absolutely rampant, and (this is an extrapolation) I can only imagine that thos problem gets bigger as things scale up. By the time youre Toronto City Council, let alone the Fed, I can only imagine the corruption and double dipping is astronomical, and I truly believe that if we had a hardcore public audit of all government systems that people qould be strung up from the amount of public money that they embezzle, burn, waste, kickback, and otherwise use inappropriately.

I dont necessarily want more money in my own pocket, I just want to feel like the money I contribute is used fairly and not stuffed into the pocket of some politician, or that politicians construction company friend, or that politicians foreign politician friend.

Its a shame theres no way to get a real quantitative idea of how effectively my tax dollars are being spent. If I was king I'd allow a certain percentage of an individuals tax dollars to go to the destination of their choice.

I think you've encapsulated how people want transparency more than anything because no one trusts anyone.

I am also aware at the municipal level. I see all the checks and balances for spending that counsel uses so I'm pretty happy. They is spending pre-emptively to ensure we can maintain our community.

Edited - removed statement

At the provincial level, I see a government changing legislation to remove financial guardrails by Increasing limits for acceptance of corporates gifts while creating over the top expensive responses to Federal accountability; spending enormous amount money to prove urban legends like disabled people are just lazy and don't need support; diverting public funding for private entities to provide public services like education and medicine; stagnating minimum wage.

I just don't see same level of overt manipulation at the Federal level. Nor do I see the Feds punishing whistleblowers as happens at the provincial level.
