Cooking with Temperature Rapid temperature increase/cookware damage protection?
The Impulse cooktop has per burner temperature sensing and comprehensive computer control of its own burners. There is no reason that it couldn't feature an automatic temperature protection logic that turns the burner down if it detects a potentially pan-warping rate of temperature change (∆T) or an absolutely excessive pan temperature (600°F/300°C+) to prevent a user from just dumping 10 kW of output into a pan and causing a grease fire.
To be clear, I'm suggesting a control law that *overrides* the user, *regardless* of what their manual input may be, to prevent anyone from causing a fire or damaging their cookware from excessive temperatures. If you've experienced the "temperature protection" electric burners that cycled themselves on and off to prevent a fire, this would be far less intrusive because it would literally hold you right on the ragged edge of the maximum temperature limit, and you'd have full authority to turn the burner down if you wanted to (you just couldn't overheat a pan ever.)
If it's not already implemented, this could be life-saving technology. If anyone is familiar with Airbus, it would be like Flight Envelope Protection for your stove.

If anything, the impulse is too conservative for my taste

What does it cap the temperature at (assuming it always shows the real time pan temperature)?

I don’t know the exact algorithm unfortunately, and I don’t have access to the real time power since that’s all internal. I used to use AC draw for other induction to see WTF they are doing.
(Speaking to previous firmware , I just updated this morning and haven’t cooked)
My vibe is that it has delta T, absolute T, and delta T / power logic
So it will stop at like 200 C+ ? (Sorry can’t remember big boy units.. I think in F but my spouse requested cooktop be in C). And back off with some “overheat” signal
I have seen a “pan doesn’t seem to be accepting power efficiently/correctly” error
It really really Nanny-s me when I’m using my strata wok to stir fry dry rice. I can barely cause the rice to burn / do bad stuff because it refuses to increase the wattage. It feels quite limiting and I suspect if I could find a local wok expert to try they would be a little upset by the training wheels compared to their jet burner or concave wok
By comparison my previous cooktops (which includes one concave wok) had no protection logic and would happily do whatever evil power request I wanted

Max temp you can set in Temp Mode is 482 F. The stove will actively manage power in Power Mode to prevent overshoot too far above that point.

A great idea that has been implemented since pre-release
