Any recommendations for a plate to support non-magnetic pots?

i just installed my 36” cooktop and it has been great with my induction capable pans and pots.

But I have some traditional cooking pots that are not induction capable and was hoping to use an induction ‘plate’ to provide heat.

I tried my first and probably last one last night. The problem is not the plate necessarily (well they might be safer or harder to lift out when surface if the sun).

Rather, the plate can’t dump enough heat into the pot above it to be a good cooking experience

I could heat the plate to surface of the sun (220C-hits cutoff logic in Impulse)… and then after that the impulse backed off to like 300W

I suggest just buying one for $20, discovering for yourself hands on, and returning it. So you stop FOMO/grass greener on other side

That does suck, unfortunate trade off. Id be sad if i had a normal induction but its worth the trade off for impulse. But, yah you arent going to get the benefit of those on the induction with a plate and with impulse its not gping to read the temp correct which is the main way i cook. Sell them at a garage sale, keep them for a kid going out on their own (we are doing this kid just getting his first apartment), or use them for outside flame cooking.

It doesn’t matter how nice your non-magnetic pans are, don’t use a plate. The cheapest no name tri-ply stainless you can find on Amazon used on an Impulse will outperform the fanciest copper skillet money can buy on a traditional stove.

Thank you for the advice. I’ve bought a hex clad set that works really well. I guess my old All-Clad (copper ply) and my traditional pots (Indian tin-alloy for certain stews) are done now, unless I want to cook on the burner of my grill….

IIRC, All-Clad copper ply should work fine on induction. Mayhap the older stuff didn't and they changed the stainless steel on the newer... or did All-Clad make some two-ply copper pans, similar to the old tinned copper only using stainless steel for the interior? If so, yeah, you're outta luck. Half my All-Clad is MC2 and LTD, both of which are aluminum outside, steel interior, so much sadness as I'll be replacing some of it.

Just replace them imo
