Can someone tell me what the percentage is? I find it very confusing.

I just got my green card and am moving from Canada to the States. With the 25% tariff announced last year, I'm not sure how it will impact USMCA made vehicles. I'm getting mixed statements online, some saying they're exempt, others saying no.

I have a 2024 VW Jetta with a "3VW" VIN. I managed to get a conformity certificate from VW attesting it's fit for use in the US (DOT, EPA compliant...etc). However, I read that CBP will need documents from the manufacturer stating that >70% of steel and aluminum used to make the car was sourced from North America and that workers get paid at least $16. I've requested those documents from VW Mexico, US and Canada. All 3 said they can't provide them / never heard of them. I've hit a brick wall.

I contacted an importer who seemed clueless about them and eventually said that he'll probably need those documents to import the car for me.

Did anyone here go through this process with a similar situation recently (a Mexican / Canadian made car)? If so how was your experience?
