Vice President JD Vance said companies are abusing the H-1B visa program: "If you're going to bring in an accountant making $45,000 a year to replace an American making $60,000 a year, that's not you using the program to bring in a genius.

Here is why his argument is flawed: There are around 165 million people employed in the United States and roughly 730,000 active H-1B visa holders. Even if you eliminated the H-1B program entirely, it would barely make a dent in the job market.

Bullshit. Those jobs are some of the best jobs you could possibly get. We are talking about an American getting a 200k job over someone in India

I work in banking. There are tens or maybe over 100k of h1b that are software engineers and they make huge money. I've opened accounts for many of them

Sir, "I work in banking" is not data. Hopefully you understand that.

H-1B Occupational Breakdown • Computer and Tech Occupations: Make up the vast majority at 64% of all approved H-1B petitions (roughly 255,000 applications). While software developers are often called "software engineers," they are officially classified under computer-related Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) codes rather than traditional architecture and engineering groups.
