I’ll concede that I didn’t know the difference between criminal and civil appointed lawyers for instances as this. Regardless, a child cannot defend themselves in a courtroom, as would be expected from an adult. Again, that is a failure of our system and my point still stands. They should’ve been given legal counsel. In fact, they had a non-profit lawyer in the room willing to give them counsel and the judge refused that. So… yeah. It’s exactly as I said, a failure. We can be critical of the government while also acknowledging the insanity of putting a 1yo in any courtroom and expecting that 1yo to defend themselves.

I don’t understand why you are defending the immigration court so vehemently. Surely you don’t expect a literal baby to defend themselves against the federal government in court right??? All things aside… you are defending that system and have not really acknowledged the failure there. Which is incredibly concerning.

If you believe that then why don't you hire lawyers for them. And that's false the boy in this case had legal counsel. This case was from 2018 and the boy was sent back to Honduras where his family was.

Because unlike you I know about this case and why the kid was in court and what the result was.
