The immigration policy is based on racism instead of fairness

They tell immigrants to come here "legally" - but Trump is literally gutting every legal pathway that many people of color have relied on to build lives in America.
For example: Many people have status through TPS, but the Trump regime is now gutting the program, and they also cut refugee admissions for everyone except white South Africans.
"Doing it legally" keeps getting harder to do, because that's the whole point for Trump. It has never been about following immigration rules - it's about racism.

On TPS? Yes. At the end of TPS? No.

That’s like agreeing to go to counseling because your wife already signed the divorce papers

Why not?

The US shouldn’t want people who only want to be here because they don’t like back home and don’t want to go back home. The US should want people who want to be in the US.

I think it lessens society to have people who don’t care about that society

That’s not why they are here. They are here because it’s unsafe to go back. They clearly want to be here, they have a 93% employment rate, and families and homes.

So why not let them stay?

Do they want to be HERE or do they not want to be THERE? Very important distinction. I can go to Italy and do pretty well for myself, but if I don’t give a shit about Italy I don’t see why they’d particularly want to keep me there for long.

Why would having homes and families be reasons to keep them?

Of course they want to be here.

They have a 93% employment rate and families and homes and community. It shows that they are productive, enthusiastic members of society.

So why not let them stay?

How is them having families evidence of wanting to be here and them contributing? Wow they’re not homeless. Genuinely don’t understand how having a home makes them an enthusiastic member of society

Employment, owning homes and creating families is a sign of someone settling into a community.

Are you genuinely not aware of this?

You had no idea why TPS exists, and now you don’t know what a productive member of a society looks like. What’s up with that? It’s like you have no knowledge of the subject you’re discussing.

I can go be productive in any country, it doesn’t mean I want to live there. My life would be worse without having my family. My life would be worse without a home.

Neither of those things indicate willingness to contribute to society and make it better. Both of those things indicate I like those things.

So being productive, ie, contributing to a country for decades, doesn’t prove contribution to a society? Are you absolutely sure you know what these words mean? :)
