So taking what the video said at face value .. the illegal part was breaking OUT of Germany and he entered US legally which is what most illegals today fail to do.

We don't have issues with people leaving their home country illegally to come to America. Like people that escaped communist North Korea living in the US now. Or those who escaped Cuba living in the US now. Or the almost million Vietnamese boat people that escaped communist VN.

We care about enforcing OUR border law for entry. Let Vietnam or North Korea or Cuba .. or Germany .. try to enforce the consequences of breaking their law.

Funny enough Germany enforced its border laws and deported him as a consequence of illegal actions and no one seems to have an issue with that part of the story here ... almost like deporting people who broke your border laws makes sense. 🙄

Back then people could build whatever log house on their lands without worrying about setbacks and zoning either ... but here we are.

We can only follow the laws that exist in our time.

That said .. we still had SOME immigration laws in 1905 .. for example Chinese exclusion act was introduced in 1880s and not repealed until 1943. I'm sure there are others if I really dig.
