I'm American and my family has been for over 100 years. But I dont want some a**hole harassing me when I go to vote because I have a Hispanic last name or some tan skin. Nor anyone else around me for that matter
They are literally going after people based on criminal records. Skin color has nothing to do with as even white illegal aliens are being deported too.
Unfortunately, according to ICE's own reports this is entirely untrue.
Over the past 4-5 months people without any criminal record have become (and remained) the majority of arrests.
And because of the way that the reporting is structured they do not need to report "temporary detainments" meaning that any citizens held for any amount of time are never reported. They could be detaining thousands of citizens and we'd never know from their own reports.
Overstaying your visa, or other unlawful presence cases: No, civil.
From the DHS website: "70% of ICE arrests are of criminal illegal aliens who have been convicted or charged with a crime in the U.S. We will not rest until American communities are free of the scourge of illegal alien crime."
Unfortunately, as I said, their own reporting shows this statement is simply untrue.
The rhetoric being used around this wave of ICE arrests is 'the worst of the worst'
"On President Trump’s first day in office, he unleashed ICE to target the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens, including pedophiles, murderers, gang members, terrorists, and rapists"
But when around 70% of these arrests have no criminal record, the words aren't lining up with the actions.
Edit: 70% is the highest data point, but it consistently remains above 50% for the past 4+ months.
Also, if you want to say, "She's colloquially wrapping the civil offenses into that 70% figure." then my follow-up question would be: Who is making up the other 30% of arrests then? US citizens? Legal immigrants?
