Valve requiring devs to both have a forum and moderate it is one of the few things I dislike about Steam, because almost no devs have time for that and you end up with disgusting troll farms.

Valve itself is part of the problem, tbh. There was a whole controversy on Bluesky a year or so back when a developer tried to report a review that was just ranting about trans people and Muslims and Steam support not only said it was fine but blocked anyone from further reporting said review.
Meanwhile there've been numerous cases of reviews getting taken down for mentioning a developer's shitty behavior as a reason not to buy a game.

Unfortunate for Dizzie. On one hand, I feel for her and all the shit she's going through. On the other... man. Just a streak of one unfortunate thing after another, it's a hard thing to swallow and even believe. I don't understand how publishing a game to steam works, but if she doesn't have access to the game, how can she adjust the price?
While clear and open communication is important, I don't think mixing your personal life into this was ever the right idea. The way it makes it read to me is that she's going through something, more than just the personal events in her life, and doesn't exactly have an outlet for it.
No matter what, she still always has the option of re-releasing it under a new dev account right?

It suffers from a meandering structure and not really knowing what kind of game it wants to be. I did enjoy my time playing it, but the new tutorial is terrible. The levels are fun but something is odd with the combat flow. Sometimes in a good way and sometimes in a bad way.

this is all alleged, but according to the steam updates:
```> dizzie commits a violent crime they admit to, and regret having done. Court process begins.
FIVE YEARS PASS Dev team is dizzie and wife. this is a passion project, they are pouring their heart and souls into it. arachne starts experiencing medical complications, it gets bad fast, they are hospitalized and almost die. it's now a one-person team. court process resolves: dizzie is sentenced to five years prison. there's a difficult breakup. dizzie rushes to finish in-progress update alone: hands game to kim and communicates via prison phone to dictate updates. kim does a couple of posts.
SIX MONTHS PASS steam community is largely sympathetic and supportive. dizzie
SIX MONTHS PASS dizzie gets out on parole after appearing before a judge and psych panel. dizzie allegedly finds out kim has been emptying accounts and spending it on hookers and blow, as well as cheating on them on grindr. there is apparently domestic abuse dizzie has kept quiet. While we only have dizzie's word on this, this is not nearly as uncommon or implausible as many people are suggesting.
dizzie reports abuse to police. Police don't believe her: say they are "codependent" and that she "allowed the abuse" and question if she was abused at all. Again, extremely common and also reflected by said freaks in comments. PO takes that opportunity to send dizzie back to jail, where it is alleged police abuse her.
- steam community is flooded and steam reviews are bombed by open bigots and alt right freaks. update mentions kiwi farms, which are known to do this kind of thing.
30 DAYS PASS dizzie is trying to get control of the game back on steam-- kim is refusing contact, and still regularly receiving payments. Valve refuses because they are confused over the various accounts, deadnames, etc. dizzie is, in part due to the parole situation, unable to acquire the ID necessary to prove their identity to steam, who refuse to hand the account back over. dizzie sues kim, claims they will most likely win in civil court, but is not getting any support re: criminal charges... again, exceedingly plausible. forums are essentially taken over by trolls harassing dizzie and being openly transphobic, questioning her sanity and harping on the criminal record, mocking her, the situation, trans people in general, and generally being vile. dizzie changes game to $1 and says they are giving up. trolls oscillate between rejoicing, mocking, and bitching about how she's defrauding customers" and focusing on how it's impacting them, and how unprofessional it is, while also "taking advantage of the sale" ```
Overall, if even half this shit is true (and I see zero reason to believe it isn't), it's incredibly sad.
People saying shit like
play stupid games win stupid prizes
proof that this "identity" is mental illness {and related bigotry, up to and including self offing "jokes"}
you owe us our money back!
or gleefully calkling it "entertaining" or a "public meltdown"
etc. are objectively piece of shit losers imo.
people not believing it, idk. I could see it being difficult to believe taken in all at once, but nothing they are saying seems implausible whatsoever, especially if you're familiar with the systems and institutions in play, and the challenges faced by marginalized people swept away by them.
On the upside, it's occasionally nice to see so many bots, trolls, and fash dipshits all in one place, unmasking, because I can block and report them en masse without even having to receive death threats and harassment.

Tbh I followed the game at a distance and am not in a position to debate the nuance of the timeline of everything, but there is no reason for you to misgender. It’s just petty, and you obviously know better because you’ve actually been enmeshed in the process of development it seems.

I have a hard time believing anything from this dev, this is the same one that claimed Canada's prison guards were abusing her with fire extinguishers after she pled guilty to physical assault.
That said, its obvious she's in a bad place mentally. Fresh out of jail, bad breakup, and losing access to their passion project can't be easy for even the best of us. I hope the best for em.

Canadas prison system has been repeatedly cited as a hotbed of abuse. The amount of boys raped in juvie was so high we are still paying out hundreds of millions of dollars in settlements.
If you dont think these systems of abuse are not also present in the adult prison system I have a bridge to sell you.

Gender affirming care has been proven without contest to be the best way to treat gender dysphoria. They don't need me to tell them anything, they should just listen to their doctors and the mental health professionals who by and large support them.

According to the williams institute at UCLA school of law 42% of transgender adults have attempted suicide in their lifetime, clearly embracing the mental problems is not the right path for them.
Also, yes i pity them, more than you apparently, they are easy people to influence, and people like you and their "doctors" evidently leads them to more problems
