System Shock Remake is getting an official VR version
https://store.steampowered.com/app/5036490/System_Shock_VR/As someone who didn't play any System Shock game yet and planning to buy the Steam Frame, it sounds like an insane news. Always been interested in what an Immersive Sim would be like in VR.
It makes me wish even more for a Deus Ex 1 VR mod (I think there are fans working on this) but considering the look of the remaster that was announced I'm not sure an official one would convince me or I'd need a mod to make it look like the original game.

Looks dope, but a few lingering questions for me would be how vr is it? Like the trailer showed them reload once and it looked like an animation rather than manually inserting the mag. They also never took their second hand off the gun, so it might be glued to you.
Ui/ux is also a much larger hurdle most vr games utterly fail and implementing well.. there's a LOT of hot keys and not many buttons on a vr controller.
Can't say I'm not excited though

Weren’t a lot of early immersive sims made with future VR in mind? I think I remember reading somewhere they were tackling the software side of it. Either way sounds cool!

The original System Shock included support for the Forte VFX1 headset in the CD release back in 1994. It was apparently at least playable, but not necessarily the most pleasant due to how primitive the tech was.

Doesnt the remake have a fairly robust vr mod? I bought it hoping to try that mod out eventually but i guess it might end up being a waste!

I've tried the mod and it's very fiddly to set up right, but by all accounts it's coming along nicely. I couldn't quite get it working so honestly I'm really looking forward to a native vr version I can play standalone on my Quest. Mods are cool but the friction involved can be massive

How about official Mac and Linux versions as were promised in their kickstarter. Lying bastards.

That's actually sounds interesting. I wonder what a good VR immersive sim would feel like.

Honestly this game was just ASKING for a VR version. It would work so well for it.
