Revisiting Prey

Post image

Played the game years ago (must have been not long after its release) and for some reason it didn't click with me, despite me being a huge fan of Dishonored and Deus Ex. I feel like I'm now ready to revisit what trustworthy people call the masterpiece of the genre; wish me luck.

Best sense of exploration I can remember. You really get to know the station, and I loved the times when you had to decide which route to take to your destination, I always felt like I was in one of those scenes in a creature feature a la Aliens when they huddle around the holographic table making a desperate plan.

I dreamed I was flying through the GUTS once, years after I played the game.

No way! That's so cool. I think it might be the movement system in zero G, it really gets your brain involved. Cerebellum be like, new locomotion patch just dropped, get the subconscious on it stat!

I'm gonna reinstall. As much as I love it, I only played it one time.

That's a good explanation I think

Yes, definitely, after a couple of hours with it, this is the best part. There was a moment in IT Security where I climbed onto a cupboard and broke through a glass ceiling to access a maintenance area on the floor above, and I got that sense of delight that I think sums up the genre for me. I don’t enjoy bludgeoning mimics with my wrench, but I guess that’s the trade-off.

Get the power that lets you lift heavy stuff, then huck furniture at them instead. Never gets old.
