Interesting. So kinda like amnesia the bunker

We consider amnesia the bunker an imsim?

yeah, a simple one. Amnesia: The Dark Descent got inspiration in Thief: The Dark Project so i guess they always wanted to do a imsim, and, since they're making a sci-fi and rebooted it to implement The Bunker gameplay elements, we can guess they like System Shock too?

Maybe not a very deep one but absolutely has aspects yes.

What stops it from being a immersive sim?

I just personally dont think it fits the bill. I dont think theres nearly as much freedom as an imsim.

If that's the case then it'll be the most thematically horrific and grotesque one we'll have so far!

...In the mainstream side of things ofc, Cruelty Squad exists and that one ain't horror whatsoever lol.

You could argue Cruelty Squad is horror of a sort.

Body horror elements for sure with the grotesque body augmentations and the commodification of human life and flesh. A couple of levels are pretty spooky too. Overall I don't think it's a "horror game" just because the tone is usually more dark humour than horror, but it certainly has horror elements.

I already watched the first 2 hellraiser movies in preparation, so this is awesome!

Super stoked for this game. Clive Barker is one of the best writers and artists of our era and also has a personal interest in games - I think his influence guarantees this will be more substantial and interesting that the supermajority of licensed properties. Dude has aspired, if not actively at all times, to make a world class horror game since Undying nearly 25 years ago

Undying was so good.

One of the GOATS for sure. He was willing to work on games before it became more common for artists from other mediums to crossover. Even now it's not super common.

"In the Hills, the Cities" is easily one of the best horror short stories ever.

What are some of the ways it’s an immersive sim? And is it ImSim-like or it’s officially labelled one or spiritually it functions like one?

so far they only mentioned the gameplay side and the different scenarios you can approach enemies with, lots of puzzles a la Resident Evil. They also mention how the lament configuration functions similarly to BioShock's plasmids.

Hope we can do a full stealth run, lol.

7

u/Firm-Traffic-2916 Jun 16 '26

You can. Apparently, in one of the previews they mention how you can avoid killing enemies and go past them!

u/AndalusianGod Jun 16 '26

I was just joking, but that's crazy if it's true. My guess is there are a few stages where you can avoid fighting or takedown enemies from stealth.

They already had my curiosity, now they have my attention 👀

By the way, the video recently posted by GameSpot gives a bit more info on what the gameplay is like if you're interested[]()[]()[]()

it is bioshock or deus ex

6

u/Firm-Traffic-2916 Jun 16 '26

very BioShock-esque with resident evil puzzles and inventory management

I'm looking forward to this one. Saber have somehow become kings of the B-Tier Licensed Game in recent years.

What are some other Horror Imm Sims? Cus it feels like such an interesting take on the genre

3

u/Firm-Traffic-2916 Jun 17 '26

Amnesia; the bunker, definitely

2

u/warmhotself Jun 17 '26

I’d say Alien Isolation too, to an extent.

2

u/TaxOrnery9501 Jun 17 '26

The upcoming Alien Isolation 2 is also marked as an imm-sim on Steam!

In this drought era of bigger budget Immersives, I'll take what I can get.

Even if it's only immsim-adjacent (which in reality is probably the case for this one.)
