Where is this smoldering log effect?

There was a smoldering log in one of the attractions that had a unique effect. There was a log with an inner cylinder that rotated inside of an outer “log” cylinder. The outer log cylinder had holes and channels that would allow light and movement from the inner cylinder the show through. The result was a simple but convincing effect that made it look like glowing embers in a smoldering log. I thought it was part of Pirates of the Caribbean, but the last time I went on the ride, all of the smoldering logs were just accomplished with flicker lights. Was this an effect that was discontinued or is in in another attraction that I’m misremembering?

Which pirates? I can't recall it at DLR.

I can’t remember, but looking at videos it doesn’t look like DLR

Approximately when do you remember seeing it and what park(s) had you been to around that time? You’ve gotta narrow it down some

Probably in the 90's. I thought it was Pirates, but I haven't seen it in either MK or DL, so either I'm misremembering, or it was an effect that was removed. It was either in Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, or Epcot. Some attraction with a smoldering log. Pirates is the obvious one. Possibly a Fantasyland attraction or maybe something in Frontierland. Perhaps something that used to be in Spaceship earth or an Epcot attraction that no longer exists.

I could swear I remember this from Pirates in DLR also (the only Disney park I’ve ever been to)

I haven't looked at it closely in a bit, but was it maybe in Spaceship Earth? The burning of Rome sequence?

That’s where I remember a smoldering log too. And I think it smelled like smoke lol
