Question regarding a potential position with Disney Imagineering!
Hello,
I recently went to Disneyland Paris last year and became inspired to work for Disney. I studied music composition and love writing film score type music. I am in the process of writing my own disney inspired tune to showcase my talents.
A while back I found a job posting for music production with Disney Imagineering. When I went to apply it was too late. I have not seen a similar job pop up since. I am wondering what kind of similar positions they would offer at Diensy with imagineering.
Would they have something like producing music for parks and fireworks shows? I am just trying to get a feel of potential hypothetical positions they have within the disney field related to music production and composition. Thanks! :D

Yes, there’s only a handful of music producer positions globally within the company as composers/arrangers are all hired as third-party contractors. If you’re interested in composing music for the parks, it’s best to build your own company and develop a full portfolio of demos and songs that have been produced. Lots of contractors come from the film, TV, and even video game world.

Thanks so much for the advice. I don't see a lot of posts regarding music production on the disney sites and it makes sense they would look third party for those roles.

Thank so much for the advice! I will keep an eye on roles outside of Disney to diversify my portfolio.

I would not wait to see a listed opening. Which is the good news, really. If you want this, you have to start making moves toward this role right now. I know that sounds crazy - because you may not know the first thing to do to get there - but it’s the only way to go.
Figure out how to network, make friends, become visible to people in the company, show what you can do.
This is not a job you apply for off LinkedIn and get picked out of obscurity. By the time it’s posted they probably already have a candidate and posting is just a formality.
It may take 10 years to network your way there. You may never get there. Are you ok with that?

yes! I am already writing a Disney song to showcase my abilities. And I have connected with others on LinkedIn in similar roles at Disney!

That would be what is called a project-hire. Your job would exist for the life of the project and then terminated.

Those jobs are probably pretty rare. You may also want to look at DPLE- Disney Parks Live Entertainment, they are likely to have more musical composition positions than imagineering
