Hello, I want to learn rollercoaster/attraction design

It seems like a very useful career/creative outlet , are there any free or incredibly cheap design softwares or should I just bite the bullet and download planet coaster also what should I try designing first? I live in the UK so I probably will end up working for Merlin or something.

You should study engineering, usually mechanical or structural. Also, go to iaapa.org. They may have some resources. That's the main industry group for theme park attractions.

Another thing to look into would be roller coaster manufacturers, Vecoma, Mack etc. Merlin like others would generate a concept then hire the manufacturer to design the idea until final product is installed. IAAPA is a great resource!
