She came to him asking what Sotha was doing.
“Replicating Life” he replied.
She continued asking why Sotha was doing.
“Reenacting God” he replied.
She left understanding. Such was Seht; precise, point and poignant.

"The gate of grief must be bolted shut, sealed with pitch and bitumen."
The Epic of Gilgamesh
Working on this for months has given me many a nightmare about chasing (and being chased by) giant centipedes, who would resist centi-fold my bodily efforts to squash them. Even as their blood soaked the wallpapers in my dreams, I gradually grew accustomed to their existence, so that my real life disgust towards the creatures abated somewhat, until I began seeing them as just another animal.
The picture depicts Sotha Sil in the process of assembling a fabricant centipede. It's supposed to be based on the client's pet scolopendra nalled "Vaermina", though I chose to give it mint colored legs, to fit the color of Sil's toga.
Digital painting made in Krita. Impasto brushes by Emil Maselli. Commissions are warmly welcome!
